“Manicure For The Strangers”

by The Vildes

Paul McCartney once said that if you have a great song title you’re already halfway to success. He might have been right as The Vildes’ latest song has one of those titles that just forces you to check it out:“Manicure For The Strangers. But that’s obviously not all there is to the track. It’s an outstanding EDM offering from this Norwegian outfit that fuses very compelling melodies with clever indie-pop chord structures, a combination that makes their music not just accessible but also artistically relevant.

“Manicure For The Strangers” is a triumph. It’s got fantastic vocals as well as great synth work throughout, but the real star here is the songwriting, which is astute and very accomplished ... and unlike with many commercially viable pop tunes, this compliment can also be extended to the lyrics. “Gloss and glitter for the heartbreak so the real me doesn’t show” is the central idea here, but what I love about the lyric is how esoteric yet very clear some of the lines are. It’s a well-written pop gem.

If record stores were still around in plenty, I’d say go get your copy of The Vildes’ new single today. Instead I’ll encourage anyone reading this to click on the link below, crank up the volume and enjoy.
