Born 56 years ago, mAncient got into music at the age of four. The accordion. Since then, he has learnt to play keys, percussion, harmonica, a little sax & trumpet, but his foremost love is vocals. He creates healing music in the Earth House genre, and was born a healer.

He has taken his Bodhisattva vows. Which means that he is in for another round on the Earthly plane.
In 2018 he said “Enough” to his normal job, and started traveling. Since then, he has been more broke than not, but happy.

The Review

I will be reviewing mAncient's EP "Love". The original track and the remixed track. So, Lets get started!

The original is as good as the Remix..Let me tell you readers these are totally amazing tracks from start to finish. If you like tribal beats then this is for you.These tracks are 3rd eye opening! with mantras and harmonic synths that swirl around in you ears,accompanied by amazing tribal rhythm that gets your soul moving.

OK, the original starts out like almost a trap beat that leads into house beat. Then comes in the synths playing a melody in unison the rhythm along with vocals that overlap mAncient's signature Wolf howl! Truly outstanding sounds in this track. At the break the riser gets you ready for a wall of sound that will get you dancing in your seat.

Now for the remix. This track starts with the mantra along side the vocals just like the original but with added flavor!This track is truly like a spiritual experience. On to the house rhythm. The beat is absolutely ground breaking with a kick that stomps. Along side the kick there is a shaker that gets you moving.

At the break more vocals come in that leads to the rise that has an incredible burst of sound! Wow, hats to you mAncient! With every single sound play at once in unison along side the rhythm. This is soul shaking beats with mantras, vocals, synths, and arps, all going at once is truly amazing sound. Reader, I urge you to check out mAncient's EP "Love", you will be transcend to a another level!

In conclusion, I personally love this EP. It opens your sense to another world. A world of sound that awakens your soul. With mAncient mantras to his harmonic sound that accompanied by his tribal rhythm. I really enjoyed his tracks from start to finish. Nice work mAncient!

mAncient featuring Tom Tikka...Chakra 10 (Let's Pray) coming soon!

Chakra 10 (Let's Pray) is a collaboration of two outstanding artists from the Minds Behind the Music label: mAncient and Tom Tikka. mAncient is an author, healer, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and a monk just to name a few of mAncient’s talents amongst many that he possesses. Tom Tikka is an award-winning SONY/BMG songwriter with multiple top-10 hits around the world. Tom just released an album called "Better Man" this year. He was also a finalist in the InterContinetal Music Awards 2022, and received the ISSA award for International Male Vocalist Of The Year.

When I asked Tom to tell me a little bit about his collaboration with mAncient, this is what he told me, "I felt the song was very good but needed a hook, so I suggested that we collaborate on it. He emailed me the instrumental track and I edited it down to 3 min. After this, I recorded my vocal hooks. I moved the bits around and added: timpani, clavier, wah wah guitar, tubular bells, strings and some choir bits. I loved the result and he did too, so it was a go." Tom also stated that it felt good to do something completely out of his genre. He felt liberated and that it was exciting. Let's get on with the review.

The Review... CHAKRA 10 (LET'S PRAY)

Chakra 10 (Let's Pray) starts out epically, with a stunning vocal effect that leads into a punchy violin riff and an X-files-like piano resting on a pounding kick drum that makes you feel like you’re about ready to dance in your seat. Next, you hear mAncient transitioning the track to a captivating prayer, while Tom Tikka sings, "Let's pray and hold our hands together" in a heavenly voice. 

This track is epic, and you can feel the power of prayer in this track. As the track plays on, you can also feel the build-up with the Hi Hat that leads to the hook. 

The hook is amazing. All the instruments burst out: the violin, piano, and guitar mix with timpani, clavier, tubular bells is simply divine. mAncient reciting prayers as Tom sings the chorus, "Let's pray and hold our hands together, Let's pray and hold our hands together, There's no reason not to do it, just take my word, Take my word..." This track is truly fantastic. mAncient and Tom Tikka have done an outstand job getting the message of how powerful prayer is. Chakra 10 (Let's Pray) is a kind of track that leaves you captivated by the words, and gives you a feeling of closeness to a higher power through prayer. 

Chakra 10 (Let's Pray) will be released soon. So, readers keep and eye out for this smashing single! You really don't wanna miss out on this track! Simply brilliant!

The Review...

There are 15 brilliantly written tracks on Holy Warriors. I will be reviewing the first 5 tracks of this album 0-4, and giving a conclusion of the album as a whole.

Starting this review with Chakra 0 the first track of the album. But firstly what does Chakra 0 mean? Well, according to the book called "Clear The 13 Chakras In 7 Seconds", a book written by Haakon Rian Manchient Ueleand  himself  means "The Zero’th chakra is the Earth Star Chakra. It is our connection with the crystalline heart of  Mother Earth. When we speak of  “grounding”, we connect with our Earth House Mother". And that is the feeling that you get while listing to Chakra 0, a sort of connection with the earth, a connection with everything around you. You can feel the power moving through you. This track has a tribal dance feel while in the background there is a wolf  howl as the vocal chants "Warriors" as you close your eyes and listen to this track you get a feeling of strength and connection with all things around you.

The Next Track on the album is an magnificent song called Chakra 1. This track has a slow groove to it with an amazing drop. I really got into this track. this track had me dancing in my seat. With its smooth leads and rhythmic beats to rich harmony's that blends with the vocals. To guitar leads that dances with the rhythm of the track. I got a bit of a spiritual vibe to this track. A sort of closeness with a higher power. I must admit I really enjoyed listening to this track.

The next track, yep you guessed it! Chakra 2. This track starts out with a prayer or a mantra. A prayer to an Angle to let go of fear. as mAncient prays there is a kick drum playing in a tribal rhythmic dance fashion. this is a type of beat that gets the heart beating. This is a kind beat preparing you for a fight either a spiritual fight or perhaps a physical one.

The fourth track I reviewed was Chakra 3. This Track start out with a nice kick and snare beat kinda like a drum and bass style track accompanied with a harmonic flute playing a rich lead. The flute and organ together sound really nice and gets your head bobbin. You just set back and let the flute set the stage for the journey that this track is taking you on. The guitar leads you to the vocals singing prayers or a mantra that sounds truly magical, other worldly. Another really deep spiritually sounding track by mAncient. One that you can feel within.

And Finally, Chakra 4. This track starts of with a beautifully played piano along side chanting of a mantra. The drum part sounds crisp with a synth lead. The bass is full and you can feel it in your chest. The guitar part along with the synth is truly amazing. The change up of this track is also amazing and flows so nice with the harmony of the track, just brilliant! When I close my eyes and listen to Chakra 4 I get a sense of oneness.

In conclusion, Holly Warriors is an album of spirituality in my opinion. An album about having a connection with the earth, being closer to enlightenment. An album about searching within for oneness. An album about the power of being connected to everything that is around you from the air that you breath to the birds in the sky. Mancient has put into sound the beauty of oneness with Mother Earth and of Healing. Through his tribal dance beats to his magical flute that play along side a rich organ, he brings prayer to life through sound. His deep vocals can put you in a trance. This is an album you can feel in your soul.

New Music Review

Coen Rhys WIP

Reviewing friends is difficult. You gotta separate - the desire to please with the necessity of being objective. No better way to lose integrity than to give a friend a glowing review - when it isn't deserved. 

Previewing Coen Rhy’s (https://twitter.com/coenrhys) "Work in Process" was not difficult in that regard.

I received a preview of part 1 of his upcoming album, cryptically titled TMUDSMMO. If you can guess what the acronym means - message me on Twitter (https://twitter.com/mancient_com) and you’ll get a prize. 

I have listened to it multiple times, and enjoy new discoveries every time. 

Coen donated a tune to the first and second charity album from MBtM. If you haven’t heard his contributions, you know what to do.

He hails from Scotland, and is “a positive over-thinker & experimental songwriter, applying twisted logic while balancing happy times with sad moments”.

As this is a preview, I won't say much about details. Though ... there is a lot of brill details to cherish in this work of art. Such as this:

Or be held up, you’ gotta be-in denial".

 

Musically, its got elements from various genres. A little bit of electro, a flavour of acid house in the piano loop that lifts the intro of song 3, a dash of singer-songwriter, some drum loops that sounds very 80'ies ... a lovely blend. 

 

I look forward to hearing this as a finished project. Lots of good vocal work as well - Coens voice shines especially shines in song 6... so laid-back and pleasant. With 33 years of singing, this is something that caught my attention.

So, just like in the book (Minds Behind the Music) where we asked over 80 music stars the same ten questions, we've decided to ask those same questions of indie music stars too. Why? Because it's fun, that's why.

We start with a colourful character. A man who I personally have a lot of time for. My friend and brother in spirit, mAncient.

Bio

Haakon Rian Mancient Ueland is a Norwegian-born living Buddha. He makes music, works with healing and coaching, and though he dislikes the term “influencer”, he can be a stubborn biatch that knows how to use his network when the cause is important.

He lives with his dog, Trollheads Nessi, in Ed, a small town in Sweden.

If you could be any other musician past or present, which one would it be and why?
Wow… tough question! I would want to be an amalgam. I want to have Bobby McFerrin’s and Lady Gaga’s voices - with a dash of Freddie Mercury, the stage presence and “total artist ability” of Bowie and Madonna, and Beethoven & Theodorakis compositional abilities. Oh … and the deep bass notes of Martti Talvela … now, there is warm growl! I want to move like Jagger & Beyonce, to write lyrics like Kari Jobe, Bono & Lauren Daigle, and be able to be fully in the moment like the two kings; Elvis and MJ.

The Questions

If you had to name one song from any genre that really speaks to you, which one would it be and why?
The first song I remember hearing. “My Sweet Lord”. It touched me like a … feather to my soul. I believe I was two or three?


Are you a Mulder or Scully? Do you believe aliens have visited planet earth and if so what do you think they think about mankind?
Initially? Mulder. I want to believe. Then Scully sets in … with her clear head and scientific mindset.

But yes … I believe that aliens have visited us, and that they walk among us today. They go under different names. Some come in animal form. Each one have a purpose, and collectively it is to lift Humanity.

What was the happiest day of your life and why?
May 9’th 1994. February 2’nd, 1999. August 29’th, 2003.
The birthdates of my three children.

If “God” (whatever your idea is on that) were stood before you now, what one question would you ask him/her and why?
“When you sang the universe into existence, what key was it in?”

As an expressive artist in the music industry, how does the state of the planet make you feel?
Honestly? It brings me down, if i don't shield myself sufficiently. And that is in spite of all the wonderful sentient beings doing so much to help us.

Let me quote a man of wisdom:
“We’re talking about a species that permits 1.7 billion of its members to go their entire lives without a drop of clean water; that seems not to be bothered by the fact that 1.6 billion still do not have electricity; that looks the other way as 2.6 billion exist without indoor toilets; that allows over 650 of its children to die of starvation every hour. There has been armed conflict somewhere on this planet for 92% of recorded history. One member of our species commits suicide every 40 seconds. In 2017, just under 465,000 of us were murdered. And if you think our ideas about God have little to do with all of this, think again. 80% of civil law in most of the countries of Europe and the West is based on Canon Law. Do you think as a person of some influence that there is a duty on us to help influence humanity for the better?
Yes.

What one cause would you say you feel most associated with and why? Whether it’s equality, poverty, politics, the environment or other?
I guess I could chose “all the above and more”. But my prime cause is simple: to make tomorrow’s world better for our children in all ways. And with "children" I don't only mean the human species ... we are the shepherds of Mother Gaia.

If you were stood before the leaders of the world, what would you say to them?

“Dear friends. I want to take you back to the moment you decided that you wanted to devote your life to politics.

When I look at your faces, I know that you came to the position you are, in not from a place of greed. Not from a hunger for power or to hurt the planet.
You came from love.

Now, please consider … what is the single thing you can do tomorrow that will truly help out planet?

Happy 22. Now, go out and do it.”

Rainbow Emotions

A Review by mAncient

I have heard it said, that rainbows are God’s love crystallised.

A corollary would be that music is emotions put into action.

MP Clarke (Twitter @mpclarke5) just released his solo album, “Drawers through the Ceiling”. Martin is also a part of the art prog pop duo Those Men, and has had a long career in music.

I have been singing for many, many years. Being a professional musician, I have developed some criteria as to what makes a “good song”.

And I could talk for hours about tonal quality, scales, chord changes, the advantages of ABACAA vs. ABABA song structure, and all the other ways we try to put music into words.

But actually, it is simpler than that. Does the song make my body move, my heart beat and do I start singing along the second time I hear the chorus?

Besides “Mystery Girl”, the song on this album that really got to me was “Someone in this world loves you”.

Here, Martins voice truly shines. The transition from chest to head voice is lovely, the simple instrumentation augments his voice perfectly, and the lyrics speak of a deep longing for release from all that scars us in this world - and compassion and hope.

Thank you, fellow pilgrim MP Clarke. Keep shining your light!

Foggy Monday

A Review By mAncient

I am listening to "FOGGY MONDAY feat. Slavin Savin" by The Coherent Alliance (Twitter: @COHERENT_MUSIC) and Svitlana Martínez.

And ... I am sorry to say this, but you won't be able to listen to it before January 16'th.

What immediately struck me about this track is that it has the same vibe as one of my absolute favourites from 1991: Opus III's "It's a Fine Night". The beat drives you forward - dancing; the etheric vocals lifts you up, as does the arpeggio piano line that seems to fade in and out of consciousness, and the drop hits like a green bomb.

I have to concentrate in order to type. My fingers wants to dance, too!

Amazing production. I love it when I notice new details every time I listen to a song.

Trollheads Nessi (Instagram: @Trollheads_Nessi) is not fond of TCA. She felt my joy and heard my feet tappin' the beat - I am typing this at 3am - and woke up.
