The Review, "Obsession"

This track start off with, a swirling of guitars that is very pleasing to the ears. in the background there is a electric guitar playing a lead that sounds as if it is in the distance. What an outstanding sound from The Petal Falls!
In comes the vocalist singing, "I Dove off a Mountain, If I found you stop and stare..." That says a lot for what one feels for another.

This song is just what the title implies about being Obsessed with another and you would do anything to get their attention. The guitars are just outstanding. The percussion and bass play in unison to a beat that is seductive. The synth part at the bridge is just an amazing touch that complements the track.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this track. It is the embodiment of an obsession. It is well played and well mastered. Readers, listen to this one it is very ear catching, you'll be humming it by the end of the day. This is a good track for those who are in love with someone so much they become their "Obsession".

PRESS RELEASE: Abrasive Trees EPOCHA Album Release + Launch Gig At The Black Heart, Camden

 

Introducing Abrasive Trees

Post-Punk/Post-Rock crossover band Abrasive Trees have announced a CD-only release of their compilation album EPOCHA.

The new collection features 9 tracks all written and recorded by Matthew Rochford between 2019 and 2021, and mixed by Rothko's Mark Beazley.  Rochford, a member of Bella Union's recently announced collective Silver Moth created much of the music in isolation working closely with Beazley to finalise each track and enlisting an array of musicians to guest.  Jo Beth Young, Peter Yates, Steven Hill, Laurence Collyer, and Roberts are among those who appear. Beazley added bass to tracks such as Before and Replenishing Water, which features celebrated drummer and Rochford's younger brother Sebastian.

The band have also announced their Saturday 4th March show with This Is Radio Silence at The Black Heart in Camden will be a launch gig for the album.

Matthew Rochford said:

"This work marks a particular phase of creativity, borne from a unique set of adverse (yet special) conditions.  I was fortunate to work with Mark Beazley on these tracks with additional support from Jo Beth - which was invaluable. After these were made things definitely changed as we moved into more of a traditional band set-up.  It's a chapter that I think is worth celebrating and one that I will always be hugely grateful for. The live show in London will showcase some of our favourite tracks plus some newer material too.  We can't wait."

The album is available for pre-order now and starts shipping on Friday 10th March, with the launch gig at The Black Heart, Camden on Saturday 4th March (supporting This Is Radio Silence).

The Review...'We Rise'

I reviewed one track off of the 'EPOCHA album', 'We Rise'. First of all this is an amazing track, it is so ambient. Guitar's slightly at first, the a distorted guitar comes in  with such feeling  and by the way  the percussive is amazing! this is an brilliant track with so much feel to it.  the vocalist sings don't give up. surrounded with the wall of sound and textures. The drums are exceptional along with the guitars creating a surreal landscape. what a beautiful track. This whole album is just amazing from one song to the next.

In conclusion, I really love this band. it give me a sense of escaping into a ambient soundscape filled with emotion. This is a innovated band with a sound that is out of this world. Give them a listen, I'm sure you readers will love their wok as I do.

Chet Lam's new album... "Back to the Stars Again"

Getting to know Chet Lam...

Storytelling singer Chet Lam spent his childhood in Hong Kong’s gritty, inner city housing complexes with very little resources. As a gay kid growing up in a humble environment while trying to figure out where he fit in, he found solace in the poignant and poetic outlaw and brokenhearted narratives of 1970s Americana and country artists. The Review... "Back to the Stars Again"

This Album has eleven tracks. I'll be reviewing the two I like the most on this album followed by a conclusion of the album as a whole. So, let's get started.

The first song that I'll be reviewing is the fifth track on the album called, "Thanks for setting me free - The Rose. this song starts out Chet plucking a stringed instrument along with a rhythm guitar as he sings.."I Guess I Have To Sing, I'm Sorry For All The Love That you Gave Me, I Always Knew From The Start We're Never Meant To Be". As you can tell from the lyrics this is a  break up song. But not one of those angry break up songs. The way Chet Lam sings this track is a loving way, from a point of understanding. There is a bit of sadness in it, but there is also a anticipation of a new start to find what he is looking for which Chet does not even know what that is. This is a very pleasant song for a breakup song. It's has a beautiful message to this track that it does not have to be a knock down fight with breakups, it's all about letting go.

The next song that I am reviewing is the eleventh track on this album called, "Light Up Your Dreams". This song starts out so lovely with a guitar and bass playing in unison like they are dancing together in a blissful melody that introduces Chet Lam singing, "Stars are twinkling In Your Eyes That Are Going In My Mind." introducing a upright bass playing so smoothly in this track. this is a kind of track that the story of the track is if you are lonely just look up at the stars and think of happy things in your life or even all the fairy-tale things for you and me. Because Chet tells us in this track, things are not what they seem to be. I love this track the feel to it the rhythm of it. The way Chet uses his instrument's to set the mood of this track. This is a track for a dreamer. What a lovely track.

In Conclusion, This album is so unique. With all the different instruments Chet Lam uses gives his tracks a certain sound that makes you feel like no matter what though the ups and downs things will be alright. With his acoustic tracks and his endearing lyrics this is an album you can easily listen to time and time again.

The Review...

There are two albums, First album, "Remedy+" and the second album,"The Lookalike's Dream". I'll be review two track of each album.

The Fist is an album called, "Remedy+". There are 8 Tracks on this album, I'll be reviewing the 2 songs
that I enjoyed the most. The first song is #7 called, "World Number Two". This song starts out beautifully with the piano playing accompanied by a crisp guitar playing like birds singing. As the guitar and piano plays they introduce the bass and vocals stating, "I Did Nothing Wrong..." Something we all have said in our lives. Then Pasha goes on singing  that everything is all right in his wold number two. The string instrument are just sublime in this track they really add to the mood of the track.This is just an outstanding track, a track about escaping to another place where the is peace that is not found in the "Real" world of hate and destruction.This song is absolutely beautiful.

The second track I reviewed on this album Remedy+ is track #1 "Amazing Anyway".
This track starts out with powerhouse drums and guitars with a lead playing in unison. Vocals come singing, " I believe I'm Keeping Sanity..". While guitars are playing in grunge fashion. At the bridge the hole mood of the track changed to an amazing wall of guitar and drums along with the vocals. Then the track slows down for a change up, which is totally amazing. I must say this is a true rock out song. had me dancing in my seat. what a well done track.

The second album I'm reviewing is, "The Lookalike's Dream". There are 10 tracks on this album I'll be reviewing two track that I enjoyed the most of the album. number #5, "Lonely Fish". This track starts out with a wall of guitars and drums pounding that gets you heart pumping right off the bat. Vocals comes in with the vocals song slows down while vocals are sung. There is nice use of instrumentation. At the bride states, "You feel yourself like a lonely, lonely fish..Taken out of water, burning with no fire". From what I understand of this track it seem to me the track is about war and how one feel in the conflict. But you can draw your own conclusion about this track. In my opinion I really liked this track and would listen to it over and over again, great work Pasha Black!

This next track I reviews is, "Rainy Night" Track #4 on, "The Lookalike's Dream".
this track starts out with an alarm sound then is burst out with this amazing beat while the vocals are introduced with guitars, and bass. The vocals starts out singing, " The Heaviest Summer Rain Is Washing The Night Away". This Track is really good I think this is my favorite Track from Pasha Black. with punchy drums and grungy guitars and that rich bass just have you bobbin your head. This is truly versatile, really amazing Pasha Black!

In conclusion, upon listing to these tracks I must say that Pasha Black is so versatile and his message is about reality-based events and how people need an escape from the chaos of this world. Pasha has punchy beats, brilliant lyrics, and outstanding wall breaking guitars. In my opinion  Pasha is worth listening to more than once, Pasha Black sound is out of this world and his meaning is to the point.

Mancient... Holy Warriors!

Here is a little bit about mAncient. Born 56 years ago, mAncient got into music at the age of four. The accordion. Since then, he has learnt to play keys, percussion, harmonica, a little sax & trumpet, but his foremost love is vocals. He creates healing music in the Earth House genre, and was born a healer. He has taken his Bodhisattva vows. Which means that he is in for another round on the Earthly plane. In 2018 he said “Enough” to his normal job, and started traveling. Since then, he has been more broke than not, but happy. In 2021, he passed 6 million streams of his music. With a global network of 200.000 or so, he uses his network for positive change. His aim is to leave a better Earth for his children and grandchildren, and his best friend is a dog. They fight a lot, but that is OK. She is a trained bodyguard.

The Review...

There are 15 brilliantly written tracks on Holy Warriors. I will be reviewing the first 5 tracks of this album 0-4, and giving a conclusion of the album as a whole.

Starting this review with Chakra 0 the first track of the album. But firstly what does Chakra 0 mean? Well, according to the book called "Clear The 13 Chakras In 7 Seconds", a book written by Haakon Rian Manchient Ueleand  himself  means "The Zero’th chakra is the Earth Star Chakra. It is our connection with the crystalline heart of  Mother Earth. When we speak of  “grounding”, we connect with our Earth House Mother". And that is the feeling that you get while listing to Chakra 0, a sort of connection with the earth, a connection with everything around you. You can feel the power moving through you. This track has a tribal dance feel while in the background there is a wolf  howl as the vocal chants "Warriors" as you close your eyes and listen to this track you get a feeling of strength and connection with all things around you.

The Next Track on the album is an magnificent song called Chakra 1. This track has a slow groove to it with an amazing drop. I really got into this track. this track had me dancing in my seat. With its smooth leads and rhythmic beats to rich harmony's that blends with the vocals. To guitar leads that dances with the rhythm of the track. I got a bit of a spiritual vibe to this track. A sort of closeness with a higher power. I must admit I really enjoyed listening to this track.

The next track, yep you guessed it! Chakra 2. This track starts out with a prayer or a mantra. A prayer to an Angle to let go of fear. as mAncient prays there is a kick drum playing in a tribal rhythmic dance fashion. this is a type of beat that gets the heart beating. This is a kind beat preparing you for a fight either a spiritual fight or perhaps a physical one.

The fourth track I reviewed was Chakra 3. This Track start out with a nice kick and snare beat kinda like a drum and bass style track accompanied with a harmonic flute playing a rich lead. The flute and organ together sound really nice and gets your head bobbin. You just set back and let the flute set the stage for the journey that this track is taking you on. The guitar leads you to the vocals singing prayers or a mantra that sounds truly magical, other worldly. Another really deep spiritually sounding track by mAncient. One that you can feel within.

And Finally, Chakra 4. This track starts of with a beautifully played piano along side chanting of a mantra. The drum part sounds crisp with a synth lead. The bass is full and you can feel it in your chest. The guitar part along with the synth is truly amazing. The change up of this track is also amazing and flows so nice with the harmony of the track, just brilliant! When I close my eyes and listen to Chakra 4 I get a sense of oneness.

In conclusion, Holly Warriors is an album of spirituality in my opinion. An album about having a connection with the earth, being closer to enlightenment. An album about searching within for oneness. An album about the power of being connected to everything that is around you from the air that you breath to the birds in the sky. Mancient has put into sound the beauty of oneness with Mother Earth and of Healing. Through his tribal dance beats to his magical flute that play along side a rich organ, he brings prayer to life through sound. His deep vocals can put you in a trance. This is an album you can feel in your soul.

Paul Shortino

Paul Shortino is an American rock singer and musician who has sung for Rough Cutt/The Cutt, Quiet Riot, Bad Boyz, and Shortino. He briefly recorded with J.K. Northrup as the duo, Shortino/Northrup. He has also recorded as a solo artist, writing and performing the song "E.G.G.M.A.N." as the theme for Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure 2 for Sega, and in Shadow the Hedgehog as "E.G.G.M.A.N. Doc Robeatnix Mix". Shortino recorded lead vocals for the Heavy Metal benefit project Hear 'n Aid in 1985. The single from this project, "Stars", also features lead vocals by heavy metal singers Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Don Dokken, Kevin DuBrow, Eric Bloom and Dave Meniketti.

Brad Walsh

Brad Walsh is an American singer and record producer known for his own pop and experimental music, as well as his dance remixes of pop artists including Britney Spears, Adam Lambert, and Lady Gaga.

Lorenzo Gabanizza

Lorenzo is a long life singer songwriter. Starting at an early age, 3 years old, he worked with legends and hit makers such as multi platinum Jeff Christie, Snake Davis, Rusty Wright, Vic Elmes, Grammy fiddler Ian Cameron and many more. Romantic (he likes to be remember for being born in Verona, town of the Shakespeare 's tragedy) passionate, always exploring and expanding, he likes to break barriers as an advocate for freedom in life and Arts so that you may find him on multi genre patterns from symphonic to country music. He often involves himself in important human rights, health and social campaigns like Mercury Phoenix Trust, R. F. Kennedy H.R., Mbtm, 320 Changes Direction etc.

SchizoFranic is an musician from Toledo, Ohio USA. SchizoFranic started this journey in music when she was six years of age, ever since her father introduced her to music. Over the years SchizoFanic has learned how to play an array of instruments, but mostly concentrated on guitar and piano. Those Men 

Those Men are a UK based progressive art pop project.The duo work in the area of concept albums dealing with subjects ranging from the disposability of the modern world (Sobgod 2007)  to a day in the life of a municipal car park (Car Park 2003); pollution on the earth in its many facets (Ponky Hates Pollution 2000)  to reflections on the overrated concept of movement (Why Move? 2006); a musical interpretation of the pituitary gland (Pituitary 1999) to a four second internal journey of a middle aged man’s thought processes in response to his wife’s question ‘What’s the matter darling you don’tseem yourself?’ (Theman Simpulse 2010).

Using diverse musical forms ranging from pop songs to prog epics, from ballads to comedy moments, from dance to new millennium psychedelia Those Men have addressed these issues in a number of recordings and videos stretching over four decades. Their latest release ‘Fecundness’ (2022), which pays homage to the energy of The River and its associated elements of growth, has been released on the Minds Behind The Music label.

 

Phillip Foxley 

Phillip Foxley is a multi-genre songwriter and musician. He writes and produces music from his home studio in Conwy, North Wales, UK.

With influences from every corner of the world, Foxley has long experience in writing music in any genre, including original blistering blues rock guitar and soft acoustic and piano tracks, and is delighted to have a track selected for the Born Free compilation album released by MBTM in July 2022.

 

mAncient 

Haakon Rian mAncient Ueland is an artist, DJ, healer, therapist and Viking Buddha. Since 2018 he has been a pilgrim monk. His music genre is called 'Earth House', which is also the name of his charity. His music can be found on all the major services - search for "mAncient" -  and is healing. He started with music at the age of four, 51 years ago, and his best friend and bodyguard is called Trollheads Nessi.

The Star Prairie Project 

The Star Prairie Project is the brainchild of Nolen R. Chew Jr., a song writer from Star Prairie, Wisconsin. The purpose of his recording project is to write original songs and make them into records. Nolen collaborates with musicians and producers from LA to London to bring his songs to life. The Star Prairie Project is named for the village of Star Prairie (50) miles NE of Minneapolis/St Paul and the Alan Parsons Project from back in the day.

Tom has had an illustrious career with number one hits, awards and more. In 2021, Tom Tikka won the ISSA award for International Male Emerging Artist Of The Year. He was also awarded four Josie-Award nominations as well as a nomination in the prestigious Hollywood Music In Media Awards. His new album, Better Man, was released in 2022 under the Minds Behind the Music Record label. He also appears on Born Free!

WILD BIRDS & THEIR MUSIC

Berlin Germany’s Wild Birds & Their Music delivers a little bit of everything with their music, which has blended together quite well. I was quit intrigued with the style of music that is being delivered, given the geographical location of Wild Birds & Their Music. Being familiar with the music scene in Berlin, I’d typically expect some techno, electronica, and the upbeat loud sounds of rave music. The groups opening track “Mushroom Jesus” on their self titled album “Wild Birds & Their Music” is perfectly composed.

 

The songwriting, and music are both very catchy. This is folk music, bringing forth elements of blues, jazz, and vibes from previous eras of pop culture. Overall, Be Bird and Andie Bird have embodied more of a psychedelic bluegrass style with “Mushroom Jesus” in my opinion. Wild Birds & Their Music deliver a well-round track I thoroughly enjoy. The harmonica is a wonderful inclusion of sounds on “Mushroom Jesus” making the track stand-out further. Be Bird and Andie Bird work very well together. The duo balances things out as both vocalists and musicians. 

 

Wild Birds & Their Music have released a music video to their dynamic single titled “Mushroom Jesus” and it’s fitting for the song. The energy that was captivated on the song, continues to carry with its accompanying visual. The group sings, dances, and plays various instruments during this fast-paced and catchy tune.

 

I’d like to see a bit more creativity with their visuals, as the music definitely deserves this. Maybe we can expect an alternate version of the music video for “Mushroom Jesus” in the near future. Please give “Wild Birds & Their Music” a listen, as they surely won’t disappoint.

Major Weakness

Major Weakness had many formations of band members. Going from two musicians to

five, then they add two more to the group. In the end Major Weakness found his ideal band, a trio.

Major Weakness developed a sound somewhere in between Grunge, Blues, and 

Rock. 

Introducing you to Major Weakness... Nick G. Murray (Guitarist,Singer), Dee Dee C (Bassist, Lead Singer) and Jayy McLovin (Percussionists).

Major Weakness is inspired by Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, and other musical giants.

The band aims to reach an audience of any age, songs that make you think about current events and certain events. These events reflect in their lyrics and their sound that invites you to listen to them over and over again.

Major Weakness has a single out called " Friday 13th ". The song starts out with roaring guitars with outstanding beating of the drums that gets your heart beating in rhythm. The Lyrics comes in that gives you a Led Zeppelin meets Kiss feel to the song. The combination of guitars and percussion is just stunning, a wall of sound. This song is pure rock in every way. A must listen to in my opinion. I really enjoyed this song.

Friday 13th's producer is, Dave Traina from The Damn Truth. The Studio that was used, The FreqShop. And the mastering, Harry Hess from HBOMB MASTERING. Another song I reviewed was "Major Song". This songs starts out with a Pearl Jam feel. With the Guitars being played chord by chord in unison with the percussion. harmonized by the lead singer singing similar to Eddie Vedder. At the bridge, a wall of electric guitars in grunge fashion. This song is just amazing! The message of this song is also amazing, basically never give up, no regrets! I really enjoyed this song. I definitely recommend this song to people of all ages.

In conclusion, Major Weakness in my opinion is a really versatile band. Their sound is amazing with guitars that rock and drums that gets your heart pumping. With lyrics that make you think and beautifully sung.

Their music ranging from Grunge, Blues to Rock. Major Weaknesses offers good music for all ages.

Entertainment For The End Times is the debut album by Austin, TX and Missoula, MT-based power pop band Mrs. Ghost. The 11 track album, with moments ranging from Bob Dylan-esque acoustic singer-songwriter moments to fast-paced tracks like Jimmy Eat World’s early 2000s output, is the culmination of band members Jacob Godbey’s and Sean Larichiuta’s contrasting personal tastes coming together in an extremely complimentary way. Hit Songwriter Launches New Album

NUMBER ONE HIT SONY/BMG SONGWRITER RELEASES NEW ALBUM

Award-winning, hit songwriter, Tom Tikka is back with a brand new album packed with what his record label calls, “hit after hit.”

The album, entitled “Better Man”, is released on 20th May world-wide on every platform from the Minds Behind the Music Record label. The distribution is via their mainstream deal with Sony Orchard.

Tikka has been working closely with Minds Behind the Music on the album. It all started when his song “Venetian Rubber Boots” was selected to the label’s upcoming environmental fundraising compilation album to support the fight against climate change.

Now Tom and MBTM have released Tikka’s sophomore effort entitled Better Man. The album features the hit single “By 2022” (#14 on iTunes Canada), a song that’s been reviewed in multiple music blogs and is also now nominated in the single of the year category at the ISSA awards 2022.

Tikka said: "Better Man is my attempt to write one of those records that I grew up with. I thought it’d be nice to try to reproduce some of the magic that the great singer-songwriter albums of the 60s and 70s had – albeit with a modern twist. This was also an era when the Top 40 was a lot more eclectic than it is today. There could be many artists from radically different genres on the same week’s Billboard chart: Uriah Heep, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Kris Kristofferson, Roberta Flack, Marvin Gaye and Three Dog Night. This was yet another aspect I wanted to revisit."

Formerly the songwriter of the Sony/BMG & Warner Music band, Carmen Gray, Tom Tikka has managed to build a rather successful career for himself as a solo act.
