Lemaon Drop
About the Darren Holland Project

The Darren Holland Project is just that, a project with many players involved. The main two are husband and wife Darren and Cheryl Holland from Grain Valley, MO. Darren writes all songs and plays guitar, keys, bass, vocals, and programs. Cheryl plays percussion, keys, drums on some songs, and vocals and flute. On some songs, Barb Wilmoth adds backup vocals and drums, Scott Mitchell on guitar, and JenCat on vocals. Andy Oxman of Sound Works Recording Studio produces and records most songs in Blues Springs, MO.

Darren has been influenced by all he listens to, from the new to the old and in-between. He writes several genres but mostly stays within rock. His songs are catchy but always have a meaning behind them.
We are sending "Lemon Drop" QZHN52370888 which will be out May 1st. Life is a "Lemon Drop" Some suck it down slowly and savor every moment. Some just bite down hard and it's over before you ever taste the sweet and sour sensation

The Review

Lemon Drop starts out with earth pounding drums played along side a guitar picking out 7 or 8 notes like an arpeggio. The sound is clear and very crisp. As they play in unison the vocals come in with outstanding sound a sound that the Darren Holland Project has that separates them from other bands in their genre. At the bridge they just let loose. the whole band just erupts with a wall of sound. The bass line in this track is phenomenal! I just love the percussion on this track. The drums just smack in a way that gets your heart pumping and your toes tapping. The guitars complement the sound with smooth picking of the notes that lead to the bridge the whole way though the track. Wow the guitar sounds as if its playing with at slide when playing the lead. This track is simple really out of this world good! Everything about this track is absolutely stunning.

In conclusion, This is one of my favorite bands to do reviews for. Every song that they present me is just knocked out the park good! Readers like I've said time and time before, check the Darren Holland Project band out they are truly an outstanding band. A band that I think every one that hears them will love and listen to their work over and over again. So, please give them a listen you will be in awe when you hear the talent of this wonderful band!

Steve Andrews: a green-bearded singer-songwriter taking action to save the seas!

About Steve Andrews, aka The Bard of Ely!

Steve Andrews, aka The Bard of Ely, is a singer-songwriter, author and environmentalist from Wales but now based in Portugal. He is famous for having a green beard, which suits his image because he has been fascinated by nature since he was a boy and is taking action to save the seas, as well as taking part in many more environmental campaigns and projects. He sings: “We’ve got to save the birds, we've got to save the bees, we’ve got to save the forests, we’ve got to save the seas.”

His songs “Where Does All The Plastic Go?”, produced by Jayce Lewis at Northstone Studios in Wales, and “Time For Ocean Aid", produced by Ricardo Verdelho in Portugal, and featuring Crum ex-Hawkwind on synth and piano overdubs, both address his concerns about the serious threats to the ocean. “Where Does All The Plastic Go?” was one of the ten tracks on the album Songs of the Now and Then.  Besides the songs, there’s a book too. In Saving Mother Ocean, published by Moon Books in 2021, and endorsed by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society founder Captain Paul Watson, as well as by Global Youth Ambassador Lilly Platt, amongst others, Andrews talks about all the threats to marine life, and by extension, to all life on Earth. As Captain Watson, who he quotes, says: “If the ocean dies, we die.”

Plastic pollution is only one of the dangers that the oceans face. Over fishing, deep sea mining, nuclear waste dumping, sonar and military testing, acidification, sewage and agricultural runoff, as well as Climate Change, are all killing life in the oceans. Coral bleaching and the dangers to coral reefs are other threats to the health of the seas.

Andrews believes that his music can help raise awareness about these matters and help to inspire other people to take action too. His book explains how his songs came about and what motivated him to write them. He dreams of inspiring big concerts, as big as “Live Aid,” but this time raising awareness about the oceans and to raise funding for organizations working on marine conservation. His top choice of such organizations would be the Captain Paul Watson Foundation. He thinks that Lisbon would be ideal for such a show, seeing as it already has a name for staging international marine conservation events and for holding big outdoor rock concerts, like those organized by Rock In Rio Lisboa.

This year, Andrews took part as a Delegate at the World Ocean Summit in Lisbon at the end of February. Two of the many fellow activists he met and befriended at this prestigious event were Andreas Noe, aka The Trash Traveler, and Steve Bender, president of Newport Beach Rotary Club. Last year, Andrews also attended the United Nations Ocean Conference. These two summits are examples of the events that have been happening in Lisbon, and why he thinks the city would be a great location for a concert to help save the seas.

He feels that like so many problems we face today, saving the ocean is a high priority international issue, and so he is reaching out with the message of his songs and book, to people all around the world. Andrews has been featured in a four-page chapter of Italian radio host Filippo Solibello’s book SPAM: Stop Plastica A Mare, he has appeared in a full-page spread in The Portugal News, and in a two-page article in SWND Magazine from Wales. The Rotary Club of Wyndham Harbor from Australia published a feature in The Wave magazine, about his song “Where Does All The Plastic Go?”, and about his ideas for saving marine life. This was his introduction to Rotary and he has since become a member of that Australian club, as well as a member of ESRAG (Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group). In 2020, Andrews was a guest on the Eco-Logic show on WBAI FM from New York. He is very glad to have been attracting media attention like this around the world because he is sure that we need action on an international scale. In “Time For Ocean Aid,” he sings: “When I look at all the mess we’ve made, I think it’s time for Ocean Aid.”

New Postindustrial Poets EP called "Orbiting the Sun". Release date is 3 May 2023.

All about the Postindustrial Poets!

Postindustrial Poets are the vehicle for the songs of Pete Poet - a Brit living in Luxembourg. They started recording in 2019, released their first track in 2020 (it did well in the Cooltop20), and didn't get on stage until 2021 (when COVID relaxed its grip). Postindustrial Poets have charted in streaming charts around the world, with more than a million streams on Spotify.

Their sound is alternative rock - but they have released songs in a range of styles.

Words matter to the Poets - and their songs often tell stories.

The new EP is called  "Orbiting the Sun". Release date is 3 May 2023. There is a pre-save link:
https://show.co/P3Zy0Yn
And a pre-release video clip https://youtu.be/q-ltlwjkUTQ

Pre-release video is also at the bottom of this article. Make sure to, like, leave a comment, and subscribe!

What's on the EP? It is a four-track EP. The lead track is called Living in Space, the second track is an instrumental called The Million Year Orbit (it actually lasts three minutes), and there is also a remix and live version of a single from a couple of years ago Record of the Week.

 What's the lead song about?

Living in Space is about wanting to withdraw from society - the hikikomori move. And it is specifically about Syd Barrett - who turned his back on fame and lived a reclusive existence in Cambridge after he left Pink Floyd. But it also has fun with some of the typical themes of sci-fi movies - being kept in suspended animation and falling in love with aliens. There is also a reference to Dan Dare...

When was it written?

In February of this year - on a bus in Norwich. Specifically, the bus from the University of East Anglia to the Park and Ride car park. The first line ("they could extract my consciousness") just appeared. By the time Pete got off the bus, he had all the lyrics sketched out.

And the music?

There is an influence from Syd Barrett's guitar work on the track - his use of glissando for example. But also from more recent electronic music. It is really a guitar and bass track though - louder than our recent releases!

The other tracks?

The Million Year Orbit refers to a line in Living in Space - and is designed to provide an extended version of the track if you play them together. We did this on That's When You Blew My Mind - and it seemed to work.

We chose to include Record of the Week on the EP because it is the other track where we hear a Syd Barrett influence (okay - no one else has ever mentioned it, but we know it is there).

What's next?

We have a series of tracks that we are looking forward to releasing. We are trying to work out the best order for doing this. The ideal would be to put them on a CD, but the practical obstacles are slowing things down.

We have some purely acoustic tracks recorded, and they will probably be next to be released.

The Review

This track starts out like a heart beat the grows in to a powerful bass line  playing along snares rising to the vocals singing, " would you like it all to burn? And disappear.' A strait to the point question I think we all have to ask the powers that be. The vocalist goes on singing, I was half way to hell." as the vocalist unfolds the story, there is a  wall of drums and guitars playing in unison that makes your start to bob your head. This track has such a powerful sound mixed with electronic elements that compliments the emotion of how serious this band is about the situation of our would. An emotion that we all should have because it effect us all.

In conclusion, I absolutely love the sound of this track. How powerful they put out this message, that our earth is burning and the power that be are doing nothing in the name of money!  I share the same emotions about the state of our world today. Will the next generation be able to enjoy this beautiful planet, or would it be a waste land in the end.

This track makes you think about what is really going on, and how outraged you should be. pMad the band is trying to make a statement, make a difference. Please listen to 'Fire' when it is released on the 1st of May 2023. This is a very important topic that effects us all like I stated above.  I think readers when you listen to this outstanding track, you will experience the emotions I did and want to make a change, and stand up for a better world.

Sydney's Guard Releases, TheTitle Track, 'Prophet Of Trouble', The Animated Music Video For EDM/House debut album.

ABOUT SYDNEY'S GUARD

This article is in Sydney's own words so sit back and prepare yourself for an adventure! And make sure at the end you watch Sydney's Guard's video too!

Sydney's Guard,  a.k.a Stephen Lubega Balyejjusa, is a Ugandan born artist who professionally trained at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance-London for a Diploma in Pop Music Performance-Vocals.

On completion of his diploma, in 2006, he went on to co-write and co-produce one female artist's  10 songs debut album in the pop/rock genre. This was an exciting singer from Doncaster. It was a worthwhile experience doing the project at Motion Studios in South London with Alan Van Kleef, of VK Drums now, as engineer.

Sydney's Guard's growing up on a combination of different music genres, all infused with his love for art and design plus many memories, naturally stimulates his creative juices to write emotive lyrics and infectious melodies on his acoustic guitar in the hard rock genre-these suit many music styles across the board.

Sydney's Guard has been involved in several performances, songwriting and studio recording projects collaborating with friends from Uganda, the USA, Europe and the UK. These present him with professional performance etiquette's in all areas that call for artistic collaboration.

On the other hand, Sydney's Guard attended several auditions from London film extra casting agencies which shortlist him for various projects to include Inkheart film by Brendan Fraser, The Other Man film by Antonio Banderas, Black Gold film by Marc James Francis & Nick Francis and many more small ones. This leaves no doubt that Sydney's Guard is an optimistic, professional artist who will handle any project, presented to him, with enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Sydney's Guard Releases the title track, 'Prophet Of Trouble', an animated music video off the 11 tracks EDM/House debut album.

After releasing the debut album, "Prophet Of Trouble", the multi talented Sydney's Guard, has released his animated music video for the title track, "Prophet Of Trouble". He released the album and it was distributed by RouteNote Music. It includes three tracks  previously released as an EP, "Sense Of Direction", on OneSun Neon- a Germany label, in 2017. The EP comprised of, "Run-Extended Final", "Run-Extended Final(Peter Mills Remix)" and "Sense Of Direction".

The ruthlessly hard thumping "Prophet Of Trouble" and  "Watch Your Moves" feature horror like growling vocal samples presenting Sydney's Guard's vocal range and abilities on the low end. On the high side, "Run-Extended Final", by no doubt, indicates it. The rest of the tracks on the album, surely, will surprise you with creativity too and are no rare to what you will hear at most raves.

BRIEF

The album, "Prophet Of Trouble", is released and distributed through RouteNote Music to all online digital music stores. Then published by Sentric Music worldwide. All the tracks included on this album contain samples that will define Sydney's Guard's lyrical strength. These depict the everyday social life he goes through. He sums up by mentioning Dave Grohl, of the Foo Fighters, as his best and favorite artist writing songs too from his everyday life.

Monica Ravalico's Single, 'I Want Much More Than This' Oh, So Beautiful This Track Is!

This track is sung in Italian. So here is the lyrics that Monica Ravalico transcribed.

Lyrics

I WANT MUCH MORE FOR ME

I want much more for me because my life today
Is too less for me.
I want much more for me.

Because I search In my soul,
and I don't know because I search
in my soul.

And I don't know,
And I don't find
the reason for me.
Everything don't go
In the way I want,
everything it's different
that I've imagined.

Everything don't go
in the way I would.
I don't know
if I can't delete.

The silence of these nights,
The quiet of these days.
Into and out of my room
so there is only a thing I know

I know that I want much more for me
I want much more for me

Because my life today
is too less for me,
and I expect the day
of the justice for me.

The review

This is an absolute beautiful track,I must say. This track starts of with a beautifully played guitar accompanied by what sounds like a roads piano with that rich bell sound. With that there is a horned instrument playing in unison, perhaps a trumpet? The percussion has an ever so soft kick played with a timber instrument. There is two versions of this track the one I just described above that was produced in November 26, 2020. The other version is played with just a piano and Monica singing in Italian the lyrics above. That track almost had me in tears, it's so beautiful. Monica Ravalico voice is so inviting, like a song bird. Readers you have to listen to this track. You will be as blown away as I was listening to her story unfold.

In conclusion, I was in awe with this track, and I don't even understand Italian. You could feel the emotion of what she was singing. As I follow her voice with the English lyrics, this track almost had me in tears. what a track that can make you feel what Monica is trying to tell you about a story of despair, but in the end a bit of hope for justice. What more can you ask for in a track so beautifully written and played to strike up your emotion. Feel the emotions that this track has you go though. Readers, please give this track a listen. Both versions are on Monica's Spotify catalog. The link is above! I'm sure you will be moved too once you hear it.

Hardland has a Fantastic Song, "Senses Working Overtime"

Words from Hardland

"Dutch Melodic Alternative Rockband HARDLAND© presents a surprise video of their never before released track Senses Working Overtime.
The song was recorded somewhere between our debut album and the In Control album. It became a real live staple but was somehow never released in any way, shape or form. While the writing and recording of our third album takes a little more time than we expected, we thought it might be the perfect moment to release this track after all, since we've been receiving great response from you guys during our concerts everytime we played it."

We hope you will enjoy the video.

Wow is all I can say about this Band! "Senses Working Overtime" is a totally fantastic song!
The video on YouTube is well made and you feel as if you where there at their concert. Lets get to the review!

The Review

This song starts off with a powerful sound of guitars, drums and bass playing a melodic masterpiece, that leads into a guitar solo, talk about ear candy, wow this song is definitely that. In come the Vocalist singing, "Well I've Been Waiting For Such a Long, Long Time. Every Sense I Saw You I Could Not Get You Off, Off My Mind." With a very inviting voice. This is a love song about one person loving another at fist site, but the other did not love them back as the person that is in love with them does. This song has outstanding lyrics, lyrics that you can relate to. In my personal case, I have been there once or twice in my life. The lead guitarist playing his solo is truly impressive. With melodic notes that float around in your ears. The whole band is just amazing. You can find out yourself just click on the YouTube link above!

In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed this song. Hardland reminds me of Journey's vocals mixed with the 80's rock sound. Its just brilliant! The song takes me back to the days that where melodic rock was the sound of the time. Take my advice, give this video a listen! You will definitely be rocking out to this song. I know I was!

Doctor Zee 'End of The World'.

Postindustrial Poets and Atrip Single-Thousand Dollar Shoes (Atrip funky version)

Lets here what Pete from Postindustrial Poets has to say about Thousand Dollar Shoes! (Atrip Funky Version).

Thousand Dollar Shoes is a song about moving on - it is addressed to a former girlfriend, but the tone is uplifting. The music reflects this; it has a funky rhythm and an infectious beat. The vocals are novel and gripping. The song moves along on a tenor voice that is gritty and involving, but this is supported by a prominent baritone that joins on key phrases and accentuates the rhythm.

The lyrics tell a story in flashback and turn full circle. It begins and ends with the lines:

"If you saw me on the sidewalk, baby, on the street one day. Would you stop and make small talk with me? Or would you walk away?"

Let's face it - most of us have been there!

About the Postindustrial Poets

The Review

This track starts out with a kick slowly coming from the distance to in your face! It sounds like the heart beat of the track. The kick slowly introduces the synth that is playing a funky groove that makes your toes tap as the track begins. The kick and synth introduces the vocals. As stated above the track  starts out with, "If you saw me on the sidewalk, baby, on the street one day. Would you stop and make small talk with me? Or would you walk away?" I tell you readers this is an outstanding funk track. With all the electronic rhythms playing in unison. As the track progress's the vocalist's sing, "I seen your pictures in the paper, your wearing thousand dollar shoes", as the harmonica is introduced. This is an upbeat breakup song as the lyrics states " Your mad about the way we parted, I'm glad you got the things you wanted", sung along side a harmonica, how original this track is. It is refreshing to hear  a track that is so unique as this track!

In conclusion, This is an amazing track. With all the elements in this track just gets you going even though it is a breakup track. The story line keeps you hooked to hear what comes next. It is well sung by the vocalists. And not to mention the beat, it has such a great sound. What you would imagine a modern day funk track would have. I personally love the vibe of this track, and readers, I think you will too. Give it a listen and find out for yourselves. You definitely won't be let down.  Below is the YouTube premiere video of, Thousand Dollar Shoes (Atrip funky version).
