SchizoFranic is a Ambient Instrumentalist Musician signed to Minds Behind the Music Records label, and working with EAR (Electric Alliance Records) label. SchizoFranics sound is a mixture of multiple genres combined to create an ambient surreal sound for listeners to experience an array of emotions. SchizoFranic mixes orchestral textured soundscapes along with trance and analog synths with vocal textures. The rhythm is a mixture of different genres from meditational beats to Trap. SchizoFranic is inspired by everyday events in our world from wildlife, and poverty to climate change.

He's Not a Hermit

Peter Noone – Herman’s Hermits

Yeah, that Peter Noone. Seriously. Herman’s Hermits had so many hits you just have to go and look for yourself because I’m tired of typing. They existed alongside the other greats like The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who and, well you get the picture. Fully part of the British invasion. The one that didn’t involve tanks and bombers. For years in the sixties, the Hermits were constantly in the top billboard charts. And blow me but I only got to interview the voice of Herman’s Hermits!

If you could be any other musician past or present, which one would it be and why?
I think Louis Armstrong because he was the real thing and always enjoyed PLAYING music.

If you had to name one song from any genre that really speaks to you, which one would it be and why?
“I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate”. One good version is Frances Faye. Fun and bright and I never made a dance song, and this was one that made my mum and dad dance.

Note: All together now… shimmy. Dude, what’s a shimmy?

Are you a Mulder or Scully? Do you believe aliens have visited planet earth and if so what do you think they think about mankind?
I am just a human from humans. Just minding my own little world one day at a time.

Note: Have you ever considered politics Peter? Evasion tactics like that would go a long way.

What was the happiest day of your life and why?
I ‘m hoping its tomorrow and a surprise.

Note: Amen to that.

If “God” (whatever your idea is on that) were stood before you now, what one question would you ask him/her and why?
Hiya G-d. Why did you chose me for all the good luck?

They're From a Hardland...

Why Did We Do It?

As lead guitarist and one of the lead singers of Hardland I am no stranger to music for charity! I have also released a single to raise awareness and funds to help fighting Alzheimers with my @AjaveMusic project. So when I read one of the Minds tweets about helping to save the planet, it was absolutely a no brainer for me. But since I struggled with a severe burn-out myself, I had asked if Phil had a lyric for me to use and he sent me a lyric.

It had no title yet, that's why you hear all different versions of this lyric with different titles as well on this album!  

Since it's going on two minutes to midnight for planet earth and for all living creatures on this rock that we call Mother Earth, we felt it is important to act NOW! 

Let's be honest...would you treat your own mother the way we treat our environment, our Mother Earth? So in order to put our feelings into song we felt the music had to be dark, moody and stand for how dangerous the situation is. But then....we ARE trying to help in our own humble but heartfelt way to make it a better place...and that tad of hope, had to be in the song as well...so that's how we got to that mega sing along chorus that ya'll can sing along and clap your hands to! 

We are, as I mentioned many times before, humbled, honoured, proud, happy and most of all grateful to have been allowed to be a part of this first fundraising album to benefit the wonderful Born Free Foundation. 

Thanks to everyone involved in this project from Phil and the @OfficialMBTM team, all the participating artists who all gave this first album their most shining performance!! Why Did He Do It?

Why did I get involved with the Minds Behind The Music Project?

I have been involved in music since the age of 13 when I discovered that I had a talent for producing DJ mix sets and making compositions on my computer. Ever since then music has quite literally been my life but I had never really felt content or comfortable about the direction I wanted to take my career in.

After I had released my debut album back in October 2020, although I had received some really good and positive feedback, I did not feel like what I was doing satisfied me or was making any kind of positive change in the world.

I wanted fame and fortune as a result of my music, but I knew that's not what I really wanted at-all. What I actually wanted was to promote a positive message and have a positive impact on my listeners lives, but never really knew how I could do this.

That is when I was introduced to Minds Behind The Music, and after I saw what the project was aiming to do and how they support the Born Free Foundation I instantly knew I wanted to get involved.

I recognised my talents for creating music that people enjoyed, and decided that I could turn those talents into a way of helping the world and the environment.

So I sat down, wrote a song and then submitted it to the project and the cause. I have since ended up also writing music reviews for their new blog, and for once I feel that my involvement in music is having a positive change on the world, the environment and other people's lives.

The project has given me focus, and nothing can be more important than the world around us and a future that could potentially affect all of us.

There needs to be a change in the world, we can all do our bit and it's helped me to understand that the change starts right here within ourselves.

I feel proud to be involved, and it is something that everybody can get involved with too!

I have since changed direction within my music career and moving forward, aim to promote a message of peace, unity and awareness about the challenges we face as a civilisation on Planet Earth.

The Story Behind a Song

Rockin’ Engine - Broken Angel

Rockin’ Engine’s involvement with Minds Behind The Music started out with a simple conversation on Twitter with one of the members of the organization. 

We came across one of the tweets saying they were searching for artists to send songs for consideration for a music video production. Turns out that our song Broken Angel really caught their attention, and we were then contacted in order to plan the eventual project. 

However, what started out as a typical music project became something way bigger than we expected. After a few exchanges with the organization, we were put in contact with some of the most talented artists around the world and we were fortunate enough to have none other than Ric Sanders to collaborate on our rock ballad, adding the most beautiful string section to this track. 

We eventually shot the music video in our hometown (Ottawa, Canada) and sent our footage to the Minds team, for them to edit and add their twist. When we first watched the end result of this production, we had goosebumps all over. We couldn’t believe how beautiful and emotional this song became, and we are absolutely proud of the result. Here’s the story behind the song…

The Song

Broken Angel: This song is based on a true story from someone I (Steve O Leff) met a few years back. In this one, I describe the absolute horror and pain that this person had to go through as a child, and even as a young adult. However, we are offering hope and love to this person, hoping it can prevent her from taking her own life. In real life, I was lucky to be able to bring back hope into her spirit and guide her to a better life, one of love and compassion.

On another note, we are currently working on our new EP which will consist of five songs, based on a classic horror movie concept. This album will definitely be our heaviest one yet, musically inspired by some of the greatest metal bands out there such as Gojira and Lamb Of God. 

We plan on hitting the studio in early 2022 and hope to make our album release in fall of the same year. We are also planning on shooting at least two new music videos with Dark Moon Productions, and we can assure you that they will be out of this world! 

We’re looking forward for the live scene to get back to normal again so we can start expanding our horizons and perform anywhere we can. In the meantime, catch us on social media to stay updated on our upcoming work. Thank you all for your amazing support!

Is It Foggy on the Tyne?

Exclusive Interview with Rod Clements of Lindisfarne

Ivor Novello Award winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of that wonderful English folk band, Lindisfarne, Rod Clements is also a bloody lovely man, which is much more important in my eyes. But for all you music fans out there you will remember that massive hit song, “Meet Me on the Corner” from 1972 and the fact that Rod was also a founding member of Jack the Lad, working with such greats as Ralph McTell.

And so to the interview.

As an expressive artist in the music industry, how does the state of the planet make you feel?
I am depressed about the state of the planet but I don’t think that’s anything to do with me being an “expressive artist”.


Do you think as a person of some influence that there is a duty on us to help influence humanity for the better?
I doubt that I have the influence that your question implies. But I feel that it is incumbent on all of us to influence humanity for the better. The problem arises when we try to define “better”. After all, Hitler was “a person of some influence” who no doubt thought he was helping to “influence humanity for the better”. We all need to work together on this.


What one cause would you say you feel most associated with and why? Whether it’s equality, poverty, politics, the environment or other?
Firstly, I believe that the “causes” cited in your question (equality, poverty etc) are all part of the same problem. Secondly, I don’t feel associated with any particular “cause” in that abstract sense. I just try to do the right thing.


If you were stood before the leaders of the world, what would you say to them?
I’d ask them to work together on an urgent united global policy to tackle the climate crisis and the worldwide social and health problems created by poverty and inequality. I would remind them of Gandhi’s assertion that “there is enough in the world for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed”. They would then nod in agreement, then go away and do nothing about it.

She Got Vibes Coming!

The World of SchizoFranic!

SchizoFranic is an instrumentalist from Toledo Ohio, USA that utilizes multiple genres to create a surreal, ethereal sounding music that you can feel. SchizoFranic uses everyday life experiences from environmental issues, animal cruelty, hunger, gang violence, people we have lost, to homelessness in inner city living for inspiration to create music of empathy, music for change.

SchizoFranics upcoming Album, Vibes, will be released in early 2022. The Album is about Freedom, and through love and coming together we can change the world from environmental changes, how we treat animals, to how we treat each other. Its about oneness with our planet and all living beings in our world working together as one.

In conclusion, SchizoFranic started this journey to make music that everyone from all walks of life can feel. With hopes that people would start within themselves to make a change. To open their eye's to what is really going on in our world and to take a stand to make a change.
