Rocking to a higher power. 

A Christian rock band on a mission  to spread the word with rocking melodies, and positive lyrics, coming from a place deep, within their hearts, and led by the Holy Spirit. In a recent review they were called "Gospel-spreading Las Vegans set off on a journey to glory." But don't let that title fool you, they rock as hard as your favorite bands.

Founded in 2018 by veteran guitarist Steve Scott, who eventually recruited Brian Torres and newest rocker on the CD Lance Crane, and special guest bassist Danny Miranda.. The band is inspired by various artists including  the likes of  Sabbath, Shinedown, Creed, Disciple, and Thousand Foot Krutch to name a  few.
The band's new single "Tonight is the Night," is a hard rocking song of welcomed change, assisted by the tasty bass lines from Danny Miranda of Queen and Blue Oyster Cult fame. Their debut single 'On the way to the promise land' reached #1 on various radio station playlists, from Christian to hardcore.  Steve had lost his way from religion and his love for playing music for many years until God brought him back to fulfill this purpose. He stated "We all have a purpose in life. It took a while to understand ours."
The band's purpose is to write music that will send out various messages to all who would like to hear.  Steve added "We just write some good rock n roll with positive lyrics." "We like to think that in some cases we are adding some light to the darkness."
The band is getting ready to release a new album entitled 'Rock & Roll Preaching,' continuing to unveil an original sound that is edgy, with a touch of commercial acceptability, bringing catchy melodies with thought provocative lyrics. Quoted as " music that delivers a 1-2 punch," and humbly "if STRYPER are past their halcyon days now, THE WORD66 only begin  to rise and shine."

The Marseille's E.P - 'FREEDOM EP'

About the Marseille's

Marseille are a young rock n roll band formed in late 2021 in Derby, England. The band consists of Will Brown, Joe Labram, Lennon Hall, Tom Spray and most recently Felix Moxey. The 90's Madchester scene and the 60's Merseybeat is where Marseille draw most their influences from.

 In 2022, Marseille had successes with the singles "Forget It All" which was played on Soccer Am and the 9 minute monster "The Jungle". Over that summer, the band also performed at the Y-Not and Isle Of Wight Festivals.

Already in 2023 the band have completed a successful 10 date UK Tour selling out venues and are continually building their fan base.

The EP features 4 cracking songs from a band that are shining on the UK indie scene and currently making more waves than the ocean.

Track 1: 'Freedom' is trademark Marseille. A Fast tempo, high energy, in your face guitar driven anthem with euphoric guitar solos. The track starts with a brilliant drum intro, a thumping bassline and the roaring feedback of guitars and this sets the tone for the rest of the rock n roll anthem.

 ts a song written about the band’s hometown of Derby. The lyric portrays how there's not a lot going for it anymore. Once a city booming with life in the streets is now a dull, gloomy place which really needs something to liven it up again.

Track 2: “Only Just Begun” is a great call back to Marseille’s 60’s Mersey-beat inspired sound with hints of the 60’s psychedelia movement. With sweet sounding guitar riffs oozing with a bright sunny sound. It’s a song jam packed with glorious hooks and jangles and a great sing-along catchy chorus.

The song is written about a relationship that ended too soon and how something so full of potential can end before it even began.

 Track 3: “Thinker” is a heartfelt song accompanied by divine strings. It has a lyric that plays with your heart and killer hooks that cut deep in your soul. The song is reflective and full of emotion addressing the situation of lost loved ones and all the things you want to say to them now they’re gone.

Track 4: “Lost And Found” This track came from the same recording sessions and had previously been an early live favourite of the band’s fans. One of the first songs the band fully fleshed out together, this is a song with a lot of history and the band wanted to keep in touch with that raw, live sound.

Reveiw of the Marseillies's E.P 'Thinker'

This release of the Maseillies's E.p 'Thinker' is very energetic and just what they say about Freedom 'Brilliant drum intro, a thumping bassline and the roaring feedback of guitars and this sets the tone for the rest of the rock n roll anthem.'  The rest of the E.P is just amazing with drums hitting hard and walls of guitar in that rock n roll style. The vocalist has a warm and inviting voice that draws you into the story. This is just an all around outstanding band that has everything that you are looking for in a rock band. New Postindustrial Poets EP called "Orbiting the Sun". Release date is 3 May 2023.

All about the Postindustrial Poets!

Postindustrial Poets are the vehicle for the songs of Pete Poet - a Brit living in Luxembourg. They started recording in 2019, released their first track in 2020 (it did well in the Cooltop20), and didn't get on stage until 2021 (when COVID relaxed its grip). Postindustrial Poets have charted in streaming charts around the world, with more than a million streams on Spotify.

Their sound is alternative rock - but they have released songs in a range of styles.

Words matter to the Poets - and their songs often tell stories.

What's on the EP? It is a four-track EP. The lead track is called Living in Space, the second track is an instrumental called The Million Year Orbit (it actually lasts three minutes), and there is also a remix and live version of a single from a couple of years ago Record of the Week. 

 What's the lead song about?

Living in Space is about wanting to withdraw from society - the hikikomori move. And it is specifically about Syd Barrett - who turned his back on fame and lived a reclusive existence in Cambridge after he left Pink Floyd. But it also has fun with some of the typical themes of sci-fi movies - being kept in suspended animation and falling in love with aliens. There is also a reference to Dan Dare...
 
When was it written?

In February of this year - on a bus in Norwich. Specifically, the bus from the University of East Anglia to the Park and Ride car park. The first line ("they could extract my consciousness") just appeared. By the time Pete got off the bus, he had all the lyrics sketched out.

And the music?

There is an influence from Syd Barrett's guitar work on the track - his use of glissando for example. But also from more recent electronic music. It is really a guitar and bass track though - louder than our recent releases!

The other tracks?

The Million Year Orbit refers to a line in Living in Space - and is designed to provide an extended version of the track if you play them together. We did this on That's When You Blew My Mind - and it seemed to work.

We chose to include Record of the Week on the EP because it is the other track where we hear a Syd Barrett influence (okay - no one else has ever mentioned it, but we know it is there).

What's next?

We have a series of tracks that we are looking forward to releasing. We are trying to work out the best order for doing this. The ideal would be to put them on a CD, but the practical obstacles are slowing things down.

We have some purely acoustic tracks recorded, and they will probably be next to be released.

Perfectly aligning with International Women’s Day, Venezuelan London-based multi-hyphenate Pao Pestana has just revealed ‘NMIGO’, her high-energy new single out today via Big Indie Records. Alongside the single release, Pao also announces the release date for her debut EP No Apagues La Luna, due out 12th April.

No Apagues La Luna is a phrase that Pao used to say at 3 years old to her father when he went to turn her light off before bed: “don’t turn off the moon”. It’s that age of discovery where children play around with the meaning of words, exploring and creating the world around them in ways that spark intrigue. Through the EP, Pao is reconnecting to her inner child, letting herself be playful and free, tapping into that same curiosity that she explored as a child. Created with no expectations and no pressure, Pao illuminates her identity and true being on No Apagues La Luna.

 ‘NMIGO’ (a play on the Spanish word ‘enemigo’ meaning ‘enemy’) was written as an ode to the power of women and their determination to overcome any hurdles or doubt that comes their way. It was made on the same day as a business situation with a man that led to Pao being deceived. The result is a cathartic release of energy that is simultaneously empowering, motivating and exciting. It’s a strong example of how art and creativity can flourish in the face of adversity, as Pao left the session with her producer “feeling like Superwoman.”

The record introduces itself with ominous bass-led synth pulses and an overpowering Latin percussive rhythm underpinned by Pao Pestana’s haunting vocal, which quickly fills out with thick basslines. The track builds tension throughout, before climaxing with thundering drums and a layered chorus rich with expressive backing vocals. Not only is the track a perfect cocktail of Western and Latin production styles, Pao Pestana continuously switches between Spanish and English throughout the song, once again highlighting both her Venezuelan roots and her London-based style.

Speaking on the single, Pao shares, “It’s a badass ‘don’t f*ck with me’ song. Sometimes we need that energy, especially women. I had this as a clear intention when writing NMIGO. I envisioned all the incredible women in my life that I admire, and how hard they work on developing their talents and the knowledge they hold. We continuously get underestimated by some man which becomes fuel for us. I want this song to be a companion to the powerful women that are following their call no matter the adversities. We are powerful.”
The release of ‘NMIGO’ follows Pao’s alluring February release ‘San Menace’ which was accompanied by a slick visual that was creative directed by Pao herself, and directed by Anna Francesca-Jennings.

Consistently shifting perceptions of Latinx pop music, Pao Pestana’s innate curiosity and hunger for experimentation allows her sound to mutate into something truly unique, pulling inspiration from her new home in London as well as her birthplace in Venezuela. Her career so far has already been littered with highlights, including two sold out shows in 2021, as well as performances in major London venues including Jazz Café & Rich Mix London. With support from key tastemakers such as Rinse FM, Earmilk and BBC Introducing, she has an extremely exciting 2023 ahead, with many more genre-bending hits to follow.

Hailing from a family of artists, Pao Pestana fell in love with theatre at an early age, exploring acting and dance as a way to indulge her creativity.  The Review.. ' NMIGO'

This track is very original, and electrifying. Right out the gate I was dancing in my seat. Pao Pestana has a inviting voice that keep you interested even though the track is mostly in Spanish. The track starts off with this incredible bass synth, that I found to be outstanding along with  background  vocals and percussion. Then the track pauses for about a second. After the pause  Pao Pestana  vocals comes in, in Spanish in a Reggaetón  fashion. At the break Pao sings, 'I Can Be Sweet, Can Also Eat You For Din-nah..'. This Track is just incredible the tribal  feel of the Reggaetón with drums pounding just gets you moving in your seat. If you like to dance well, this track is for you. I personally loved it! I loved the fact that even though she is singing in Spanish there is English mix in the track. You pretty much understand what she is singing about. Give this track a listen too readers. You'll be dancing in your seat also.

The Subtheory – 'Cut to Black' News and Review!

The Subtheory set out their stall early for a busy 2023 with an ethereal, atmospheric new single; Cut to Black.  Eerie piano leads you to floating, airy synths, jangling guitars laid upon a descending bass groove with Cate DeBu’s melancholy cautionary tale of a life spent playing the odds on both sides.  There is an intriguing contrast between the sweet, dreamlike quality of the music and melodies juxtaposed with the harsh and slightly bitter tang of the lyrics.

The Review....The Subtheory-Cut ot Black

Wow, this is a outstanding track it is exactly what The Subtheory said it would be. An enchanted piano opens up the mystery of  this track,that leads into the synths slowly interning into the track.  They reminds me of  The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony, totally fantastic sound. The lyrics are inviting starting off like a song bird singing, 'What's done is said, What's said is Done, My Thoughts my mind misread...' That peaks your interest right off the bat. Like I said at the beginning of this review, this track is very enchanting and totally epic! Oh, how I love this track. The mystery of it, the sounds that  float around in your ears and the mystery of the story being told in this track. Readers, this is a must listen too. This track is truly amazing.

Hit Singer/Songwriter Joins Forces with Minds Behind the Music

A bit about Abrasive Trees...

Abrasive Trees have been described as ‘stunning’ (BBC Introducing) and ‘transcendent’ (Post-Punk.com).  Their musical creations display a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within a post-punk and post-rock aesthetic.

Creating a visionary, cinematic sound, the band use intertwining guitars, distorted cello and leviathan drums set against stark vocals and spectral spoken-word - noted as “utterly enticing” by Louder Than War. Their line-up includes members of Bella Union’s Silver Moth as well as regular contributors to the music of Evi Vine, Rothko and Jo Beth Young.

Post-Punk/Post-Rock/Post-Folk crossover band Abrasive Trees have announced a CD-only release of their compilation album EPOCHA.

The new collection features 9 tracks all written and recorded by Matthew Rochford between 2019 and 2021, and mixed by Rothko's Mark Beazley.  Rochford, a member of Bella Union's recently announced collective Silver Moth (along with fellow Abrasive Tree Ben Roberts) created much of the music in isolation working closely with Beazley to finalise each track and enlisting an array of musicians to guest.  Jo Beth Young, Peter Yates, Steven Hill, Laurence Collyer, and Roberts are among those who appear. Beazley added bass to tracks such as Before and Replenishing Water, which features celebrated drummer and Rochford's younger brother Sebastian.

Matthew Rochford says of the release:

"This work marks a particular phase of creativity, borne from a unique set of adverse (yet special) conditions.  I was fortunate to work with Mark Beazley on these tracks with additional support from Jo Beth - which was invaluable. After these were made things definitely changed as we moved into more of a traditional band set-up.  It's a chapter that I think is worth celebrating and one that I will always be hugely grateful for."

The Review..."EPOCHA"

This Track starts out fantastic with guitar and  synths playing in harmony  that introduces the main Vocalist. This is an absolutely amazing track. The vocalist starts the track singing.."The Shadows Of What You Do, Fallow you" with the guitars and bass  playing in harmony.  This track sounds  similar to the Cure. This is just an amazing track. The kinda track you can listen over and over again.

In conclusion, This is a fantastic band and a fantastic track like I said, there sound is rich and the lyrics tell a  story what you do, will fallow you. Epocha is a track for everyone. Give it a listen and decide for yourself. I found it to be absolutely fantastic of a  track.

Arctic Monkeys and Country... Savannah Jaine's "I Win Again"

 

Getting To Know Savannah Jaine!

Savannah Jaine is a dynamic artist, based out of New York City and Manchester, UK.  A diligent workhorse from a young age, this NBC's America's Most Talented Kid's alum honed her chops as a contract vocalist working long hours on stage in hotels and on cruise ships - and that unique and immense experience shows itself in her rich, resonant and powerful vocals.

 A big believer in ‘creating your own opportunities’, she toured, busked and traded live music for beds at hostels throughout Europe and blogged about her adventures all the way. In 2019, Savannah took a contract gig for a rock band in Dubai, where she met British Guitarist and Producer Lee Meadows. Bonding over their love for Americana, Country and Blues, these two fire signs began writing and playing together at an Artist Residency in Ibiza, Spain. The couple got married during Covid-19 and began building an online following with Tik Tok ‘Live Songwriter Rounds’ from their home in Adlington, Lancashire.

 Following on from “Sunshine & White Wine” - her first editorial placement - and Live session EP in collaboration with Milkshed Studios, Lancashire, Savannah is gearing up for her brand new album ‘Slow Burn Baby’, set for release in May 2023. The lead single “I Win Again” is a rock-driven track inspired by Savannah’s time working on cruise ships, playing to thousands of people per week:

The Review...."I Win Again"

This track starts out with a single guitar with a crunchy vibrant distortion sound. Then the band comes in along side of Savannah Jaine, singing..." Said I Sing too Loud, and My Skirts are too tight! Said you hatted my sound She cut me up at night" As if someone is judging by the way she presents herself, and that person is judging her style. Savannah has a stunning voice a certain soft but bold sound as she sings. The guitars are played brilliantly with there rich sound. The drums and bass played hand and hand to give this track a country rock feel. Had my feet tapping to the rhythm. I also found myself nodding my head to this track

In conclusion, This track is about someone that is jealous of the main persons  look and sound. The person she is singing about is a has been and is not too happy about that. So ever chance that this jealous person gets, cuts on the one that is successful. So, oftain that this happens to a lot of musicians trying to make it. If you like country rock, then I recommend you to give this track a listen. You just might be finding yourself relating to Savannah Jaine's Track "I win Again". I hope you enjoy this track as much as I did, and find yourself dancing in your seat.

Biddy & The Bullets: STORM IN A SHOT GLASS!

 Let's get to know Biddy & The Bullets!

Country music trio Biddy & The Bullets have formally announced the details of their brand new cover single ‘Storm In A Shot Glass’ which will be released across all digital and streaming platforms from February 28, 2023.

 The trio are a loud country-rock outfit coming out of Yorkshire, UK consisting of Biddy Ronelle who is also the founder of the band, Stu Magru, and Darren Gill. They first arrived on the scene in May 2022 with their stellar debut single ‘Dark Side’ and that led them to serious success within the UK’s country scene and got them booked on festivals including Buckle & Boots, and Rock N Ribs. They have also opened for the likes of Backwoods Creek, and Fargo Railroad.  

 And now they are kickstarting 2023 off in style with the release of their version of the Reba McIntire 2019 hit ‘Storm In A Shot Glass’ and they have of course delivered a raucous rock-tinged country rendition that will have you turning that volume key up. Their take on this track is simply brilliant and something everyone needs to hear.

 But this new release is not the only thing on the cards for Biddy & The Bullets this year as they also have a number of festival slots lined up for this summer and they will continue to immersive themselves in the country-Americana world exploring all genre styles within that realm, and ‘Storm In A Shot Glass’ is just the start of that new chapter for the band who deliver a standout rocking offering, stamping their individuality over the song.   

 Founder and #1 recording artist Biddy Ronelle will also continue to work as a soloist sporadically throughout the next twelve months and will continue to tour with the multi-award-winning theater show The Big Country Show.

 Catch Biddy live supporting Laura Evans in Sheffield on 25th February and with the full band in Sheffield on March 16th. The trio will also be appearing at Country On The Coast Festival in April.

The Review..."STORM IN A SHOT GLASS"

Oh yeah! This track starts out with the guitar playing with a bright distorted wall of sound playing in sync with the bass and drums that makes the sound have a bouncing country rock sound. The bass is being played brilliantly along side the drums leading into the vocals singing, "She up at the bar stool, I'm drinking like a mad fool,Everybody around here know what that does to her". What a voice! singing in a tough sounding voice as the Vocalist unfolds the story. This song is a song that you can listen to more that once. This track outstanding sound with all of the band playing at once. I also enjoyed the story that is being told in this track. I love what they did at the bridge with the vocal effects. This Track had me dancing in my seat!

In conclusion, My thoughts about, "Storm In A Shot Glass" by Biddy & The Bullets is that this band it totally fantastic. I love their sound and the story being told. This is truly an outstanding Country Rock band. I recommend you readers check this Band out... You will definitely love this band and enjoy this track, as I did.

About The Quivering Palm

The Quivering Palm is the solo project of Kevin "KP" Hahn where alternative rock and indie pop hold hands.

About the EP

This EP is the first of a trilogy where each song leads directly into the next. Additionally, the last song of each EP will lead into the first of the next as well so when the trilogy is finished it will be like one seamless 18 track album.

The idea of perpetual motion, although unrealistic, fascinated me in my youth. I used to draw imaginary machines like the one shown in the album's cover art that could almost work in the real world if it weren't for those pesky laws of physics.

While the album’s single “Bittersweet Escapes” is on all the major streaming sites and the song “Uninspired” is playing on various indie radio stations, this EP will only be available for purchase on Bandcamp at https://thequiveringpalm.com at this time.

The Review

The Quivering Palm has a unique sound. I love the many different instruments used to create a rich sound. The drums are outstanding along with the Piano. the bass line is also phenomenal. I like how they used electron elements in their tracks. This is a divers band that mixes electronic instrumentation along with traditional rock. Smooth bass lines and rich sounding guitars mixed with synths. Readers if you like diverse sounding tracks this is the band for you.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this band. I loved how they mixed electronic elements in their tracks that makes this band unique. This band had my head bobbin and toes tapping. And I am sure if you listened to this bands track you'll be doing the same.

Caitlin McCarthy ...."When Angels Fall" A Beautiful Charity track For Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

A Message from Caitlin McCarthy  and the band. This is what they have to tell the world...

 Earlier this year Caitlin and her Mum Joanne were contacted by Tyler Campbell of Friday’s Charity via his family friend Jo Alcock who is a member of Arthur’s Charity CIO. Jo Alcock being a member of Arthur’s Charity & personal friend of Bernie Dixon, member of the family of Arthur Labino-Hughes. Caitlin was asked if she could write on the song in loving memory of their cherished young cousin. Jo created the idea as she is aware music is eternal, it would give Arthur his voice back & it would be a tremendous tribute to little Arthur and his family.

Arthur from Solihull was a 6-year-old boy with dreams of being a football player, with a love of superheroes and with a Superpower Smile that he shared with everyone he met. He was described by his family as a warm-hearted boy that included everyone around him. Arthur was so sadly let down by every organization that was made aware of him.

 Arthur died at the age of 6 from an un-survivable head injury. Arthur & his father had moved into the partners home throughout lockdown. Arthur’s cousins and family have created a Charity in Tribute to their Little boy with a Superpower Smile.
The Charity that now has a face book following of 1.2k members is called Arthur’s Angels CIO. Arthur’s voice was not heard in the right way by organizations around him as he moved through an incredibly difficult time in his new home with his father & his father’s partner. There were clear opportunities identified for Arthur to have received support, these were missed, and Arthur died on the 17 June 2020.
Arthur’s story shocked the world & Arthur, who died thinking no one loved him, touched the hearts of thousands of people who responded with so much love & compassion.
This is a song in Tribute to Arthur and to give him a voice for his Charity to create opportunities for positive change within all the areas that failed him. What happened to Arthur should never happen to another child.
Please buy Arthur’s tribute song to create funds for his Charity. Arthur’s Charity aims to support vulnerable children and to push for positive changes in our society, around processes and organizations that failed him.
Child abuse is everyone’s concern, and we must put a stop to opportunities for it to happen. Please help us give Arthur his voice back. For all the Children who have left this earth to soon at the hands of Child Abuse and for Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

The Review..."When Angels Fall"

When Angels Falls, starts out with a beautiful piano solo while Caitlin McCarthy sings in a gentle heart warming voice, that gives you the chills right off the bat. This track is just absolutely beautiful. As she sings a song for Arthur the boy who passed not knowing anyone ever loved him. She sings..."Listen Up To The Sound You Hear... Calling Loud from all". then she sings... how the sounds are coming from far and near. As the song goes along Caitlin voice pulls on all your heart strings and you get drawn into the sentiment that is being told about this little boy who never new anyone really loved him. Now Caitlin is telling the world about this wonderful boy. As the track progress's guitars are introduced strumming gently along side Caitlin's voice with violins, bass and percussion. At this point your just about in tears as Caitlin sings. The track ends as gentle as it began with Caitlin wonderful voice and the sound of a  piano playing softly.

In conclusion, This is just about the most beautiful track coming from a very talented Caitlin McCarthy singing for a boy that passed at age 6. She tells the world from her heart how this boy is loved by all near or far, all that hears the message of this track. People this is a charity track for all children like Arthur. Please Pre-save and give to this cause. Children are our future we should all protect them from whatever situation that child could be in. Child abuse needs to stop, and we need to learn to love one another, starting with our children for a better world that we all live in. Help end Child abuse.

New Indie Label Gets Mainstream Distribution


A brand new music label released a charity album for planet Earth and because of that were offered mainstream distribution through Orchard.

The label, Minds Behind the Music, released a compilation album of the same name featuring stars such as Mungo Jerry and Simon Kirke of Bad Company. They also featured a host of awesome indie musicians. Following this they released an album from the legendary Star Prairie Project which has so far had millions of plays.

Now with global mainstream distribution in place they are releasing two more albums from two indies.

The first is actually the second album from the electronic ambient and established indie, SchizoFranic, entitled Event Horizon. Her first album from the label was called Vibes and is already being considered by several film companies for inclusion in movies.

The second new album is called Fecundness and is quite different. It comes from prog-rock indie band, Those Men, who are quite a name in the indie world for being totally insane.

“We want a broad spectrum of the best talent in the indie world and with these two very different releases we believe we’re getting there.” said MBTM owner and author, Phil G.

Both albums were released world-wide on every platform on the 22nd April.
