Some songs have life written all over them, and “You’re Alright” by the British 23 FIELDS is one of them.
From the very first strums of the acoustic guitar and the unpretentious but effective violin hook you know you’re listening to something special. Once the vocals kick in, the deal is sealed. It's the voice. It's world-weary and nicotine-laden enough for you to go: “Yeah, he’s been there. I get it. He knows.”
There’s a little bit of Bob Dylan here, a sprinkle of Gene Clark, a dash of Don Henley … it’s just fantastic … warm and alluring.
“You’re Alright” might be a melting pot of many famous influences but in this day and age, it’s a rarity. The song flows effortlessly like a beautiful brook, transporting the listener to a different era, an era when music still sounded pretty damn good.
