Bits of Joy Division in the vocal performances as well as The Undertones in the phrasing of the singing & so many more!! Some might say!

The album and tracks have been played on many national radio stations, #1 in many Indie Charts and Top 10 and 25 in lots of charts in the UK, USA and worldwide in songs of the year compilations.

The review..."Who Why Were What" The Album

This Album has 13 tracks on it. I'll be reviewing two of the one's I like the best.. So lets get to it!!

The first track that I'll be reviewing is actually the first track "Who Am I" This song starts out with an amazing bass line...that leads to the guitars and vocals. The vocals start out singing.."Woo H ooh...then he sings "Why Do You Bring Me Down, Why Do You Leave Me Bound, Your Living A Lie" as to state a broken relationship or situation gone sour. This track has outstanding effects played in the background similar to the Cure. the percussion is brilliant with pounding drums that sucks you into the song and gets you bobbing your head. All through this track the bass is just pumping, sounds absolutely outstanding. I can't stress that enough. You readers have to check this track out. It is a rocking track.

The second track I'll be reviewing is..." I Am." This Track is absolutely great and kinda controversial. Again it starts out with an amazing bass line along with a guitar that sounds like Joy Division. This track is about how other's see your sexuality. The vocals start out stating...."You would see me as you want to, life see me as they want to, I am a boy, and I am a girl." a bit controversial as I said before but, you readers get to hear the other side of the coin. later in the track pMad sings..."I Am A Straight Boy, I Am A Gay Boy." That's in your face reality of how the other side of the coin... lives their life every day in today's society, no matter where you live. latter in the track he also states.."I Am Me" telling the listener who this person relates him or herself personally. This track is bold and taboo in today's society, but, pMad puts it out there. Readers give it a listen, see how the other side of the coin feels about how they feel about themselves plus, how society sees them.

In conclusion, I really liked this Album. I liked the honesty and in your face truth about sexuality and troubled relationships. Tracks that are bold and not for the faint of the heart. This is an album about real life situations that nobody wants to talk about because it is considered taboo. I must say it is straight forward in your face topics. But, I respect that in your face tracks about life and all that life has in it. Hats off pMad for making this amazing album.

The Darren Holland Project new single Featuring JenCat ..... "Planet Pain"

Who is the DHP?  Well, here is what Darren Holland has to say.

The DHP is a husband and wife duo from Kansas City, Missouri.

I'll tell you that we are a team, but I am the writer. My wife Cheryl gets the pleasure of being woken up at 2 am because I feel I have come up with something cool, and she listens. Cheryl is the one I trust to put her voice, her style, musicianship, and her mark into the sound that we call the DHP.

On all platforms, the song  Planet Pain will be released on January 1st, 2023. Planet Pain is about the struggle of mental health, addiction, and going through this world without falling apart. We are sending the radio edit version. It features the powerful vocals of JenCat, and she has a mean growl for sure!

Oh, and lyrically I write about life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I write the story of everyone I know, everyone I meet, and some I miss. I write about the sex, the drugs, and the mental issues we all have at times. So my stories can be viewed differently by each person who listens and whom it touches.

Band Line Up:
Darren Holland: Guitar, Bass, Keys, Ukulele, and Vocals.
Cheryl Holland: Keys, Harmonica, Drums and Percussion, and Vocals.
JetCat-Planet Pain
Andy Oxman: Producer and Mitch Critchon (Planet Pain)

The review... "Planet Pain"

Planet Pain starts out with a guitar  that sound as if they were soaring all around you. next  the drums and bass comes in  with this pounding jaw dropping intro. Then JenCat comes in to sing.."Welcome Here To Planet Pain.. Hope I never come again!" as if the listener just arrived to that destination with regrets that they are there. The break is really amazing walls of guitars, bass and drums while JenCat sings. The sound of this band is just out of this world.

Later in the lyrics JenCat sings "Some Things Never Change." and he is so right with all that is going on in this world today. The track ends as it began with a soaring guitar that fades.

In conclusion, This band has a unique sound. A sound that draws you into the lyrics that is telling a story that perhaps everyone can relate to at least once in their life. The Darren Holland Project makes tracks about real world events from all walks of life. The ups and the downs of life. This is a band that I relate to and I hope you readers will give this track a listen you might find that some of JenCat's lyrics just might hit home with you too.

Caitlin McCarthy ...."When Angels Fall" A Beautiful Charity track For Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

A Message from Caitlin McCarthy  and the band. This is what they have to tell the world...

Earlier this year Caitlin and her Mum Joanne were contacted by Tyler Campbell of Friday’s Charity via his family friend Jo Alcock who is a member of Arthur’s Charity CIO. Jo Alcock being a member of Arthur’s Charity & personal friend of Bernie Dixon, member of the family of Arthur Labino-Hughes. Caitlin was asked if she could write on the song in loving memory of their cherished young cousin. Jo created the idea as she is aware music is eternal, it would give Arthur his voice back & it would be a tremendous tribute to little Arthur and his family.

Arthur from Solihull was a 6-year-old boy with dreams of being a football player, with a love of superheroes and with a Superpower Smile that he shared with everyone he met. He was described by his family as a warm-hearted boy that included everyone around him. Arthur was so sadly let down by every organization that was made aware of him.

Arthur died at the age of 6 from an un-survivable head injury. Arthur & his father had moved into the partners home throughout lockdown. Arthur’s cousins and family have created a Charity in Tribute to their Little boy with a Superpower Smile.
The Charity that now has a face book following of 1.2k members is called Arthur’s Angels CIO. Arthur’s voice was not heard in the right way by organizations around him as he moved through an incredibly difficult time in his new home with his father & his father’s partner. There were clear opportunities identified for Arthur to have received support, these were missed, and Arthur died on the 17 June 2020.
Arthur’s story shocked the world & Arthur, who died thinking no one loved him, touched the hearts of thousands of people who responded with so much love & compassion.
This is a song in Tribute to Arthur and to give him a voice for his Charity to create opportunities for positive change within all the areas that failed him. What happened to Arthur should never happen to another child.
Please buy Arthur’s tribute song to create funds for his Charity. Arthur’s Charity aims to support vulnerable children and to push for positive changes in our society, around processes and organizations that failed him.
Child abuse is everyone’s concern, and we must put a stop to opportunities for it to happen. Please help us give Arthur his voice back. For all the Children who have left this earth to soon at the hands of Child Abuse and for Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

The Review..."When Angels Fall"

When Angels Falls, starts out with a beautiful piano solo while Caitlin McCarthy sings in a gentle heart warming voice, that gives you the chills right off the bat. This track is just absolutely beautiful. As she sings a song for Arthur the boy who passed not knowing anyone ever loved him. She sings..."Listen Up To The Sound You Hear... Calling Loud from all". then she sings... how the sounds are coming from far and near. As the song goes along Caitlin voice pulls on all your heart strings and you get drawn into the sentiment that is being told about this little boy who never new anyone really loved him. Now Caitlin is telling the world about this wonderful boy. As the track progress's guitars are introduced strumming gently along side Caitlin's voice with violins, bass and percussion. At this point your just about in tears as Caitlin sings. The track ends as gentle as it began with Caitlin wonderful voice and the sound of a  piano playing softly.

In conclusion, This is just about the most beautiful track coming from a very talented Caitlin McCarthy singing for a boy that passed at age 6. She tells the world from her heart how this boy is loved by all near or far, all that hears the message of this track. People this is a charity track for all children like Arthur. Please Pre-save and give to this cause. Children are our future we should all protect them from whatever situation that child could be in. Child abuse needs to stop, and we need to learn to love one another, starting with our children for a better world that we all live in. Help end Child abuse.

Single will be out December 16, so look out for this one, it's a tear jerker.

The review...."Icon Of Today"

The track starts off with a phone being dialed, and someone on the other end says "Hello" which introduces a wall of guitars clean and crisp with distortion along with heart pumping drums. The vocalist comes is singing, "Sleep Now, Because I'll be awake...Watching over you" later in the track the vocalist states that that he has become an" Icon Of Today" breaking all the rules, but he didn't choose to be that way and he states how he cant live with out this person I'm assuming is a love interest from the earlier lyrics from the beginning of the track.

Wow, the guitars are just phenomenal in this track very melodic. The drummer and bass player are just outstanding, they will definitely get your head bobbing. This track ends with the phone just making that sound when the line is busy, how brilliant to end the track as it started, on the phone.

In conclusion,  I just love the sound of this band. with their crisp heart pumping guitars and rhythm. And the lyrics make you feel like you are a part of the story line. You anticipate what the vocalist is going to say next. Readers if you want to just rock out, this is the band to do it with. They are an out of this world rock band that will definitely get you moving.

Wicklow Singer Songwriter Marie Keane, releases a new single "Shelter"

A Bit about Marie Keane...

Marie Keane is a singer-songwriter with eclectic themes, from environmental protection (Marie's a qualified environmental scientist) to Motown influenced love tunes. For 20 years she's performed in various blues, soul and jazz ensembles. From the main stage in the Cork Jazz Festival to performing traditionally inspired tunes in the Botanical Gardens, her music crosses more than a few divides.

Her debut album ‘Russian Doll’ is a mix of folk blues and soul with subtle classical and traditional undertones. The release of Russian Doll followed on from it’s launch to a packed out Sugar Club performance of the full album in 2019. Russian Doll is available on vinyl & CD in Tower Records, selected Golden Discs stores and independent record stores in Dublin, Kildare, Athlone, Cork and Galway and record shops throughout the country, supporting Irish music.

"Shelter" is a simple lament about shining a light in dark times. Written during the height of
the lock-downs as an ode to the suffering happening around the world and the uncertainty in my own life” said Marie. “It helped to release my worry and fear”.  The music video reflects its’ simplicity and features the wonderful Vyvienne Long, whose cello performance imbues a real depth of emotion to the music. Shot in the Cellar of the Workman’s Club in Dublin City Centre, the room itself captures the essence of the song’s mood and inspiration.

"Shelter" is the third single from Marie’s second album ‘MNÁ’. It offers a more serene glance into the artists more emotional perspectives and is a departure from the rest of the albums prominent soul and blues rock anthems. The album will be launched in the Workman’s Club on Sunday 26th February at 8pm, with support from Little Oak.

Marie Keane, the singer-songwriter from Greystones, Co. Wicklow, today releases the third single "Shelter" from her forthcoming album ‘MNÁ’.

The Review... "Shelter"

This is totally an amazing track. This track starts out with beautifully played cellos and piano that introduces Marie Keane singing with a songbird kind of voice, " Somewhere In The Darkness I Call..." Marie is setting the stage up for the listener to understand the sense of sadness that she feels but, there is another in her life that always comforts her in her time of need. That is something we all are looking for in life. Drums are quietly introduced along with the cello. I tell you readers this is an absolutely beautiful track.

In conclusion, This is a kind of track that leaves it up to the listener to imagine who the person could be that is the one comforting the person in need. it could be a lover or a mother.
With the richness of the cello and piano compliments Marie Keane incredible voice. subtle percussion and bass along with the cello plus the piano at the bridge is simply fantastic! You could really feel the emotions throughout this track. I truly, I can't express enough how much I enjoyed listening to Marie Keane track "Shelter". And I am sure you will enjoy it too as much as I did. Simply a brilliant track.

Chet Lam's new album... "Back to the Stars Again"

Getting to know Chet Lam...

Storytelling singer Chet Lam spent his childhood in Hong Kong’s gritty, inner city housing complexes with very little resources. As a gay kid growing up in a humble environment while trying to figure out where he fit in, he found solace in the poignant and poetic outlaw and brokenhearted narratives of 1970s Americana and country artists. Chet also saw in USA roots music similarities with Chinese pop, as both brimmed with strong melodies, sensitive stories, and careful attention to lyrical detail. Now, after becoming a highly-respected artist in the Asian market, Chet hopes to bring a heartfelt fusion of East-West pop sensibilities to the Western Hemisphere.

Chet is a worldwide known artist with 33,987 monthly Spotify listens, and a body of work spanning nearly 20 albums, featuring songs sung in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. He writes and sings sensually and sagely about relationships, heartbreak, and new love. “I like to ask the right questions in my songs instead of giving themes and content away. I like to challenge people a little bit,” Chet says.

Chet’s major accolades include winning “Best Folk Singer” at the 2012 and 2016 Top Chinese Music Awards; “Album of the Year (Cantonese)” at the 2012 Chinese Music Media Awards; “Best Folk Artist” at the 2004 and 2005 Chinese Music Media Awards; “Song of the Year” at the 2004 Global Chinese Music Awards; and “Best Original Film Song” at the 2003 Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards.

Back to the Stars Again is a magical folk album inspired by the classic French story “The Little Prince.” Chet wrote the songs from the perspective of the characters of the story and their relation to the story. “The Little Prince is a romantic, of course, The Fox is simply a drama queen, The Rose is spoiled, The Ghosts are actually everyday life people, The Snake is actually innocent,” says Chet. He utilized classic folk instrumentation like the acoustic guitar and soft beats, but he includes fantastical elements like wind instruments and intricate percussions.

Track Listing:
Chasing Sunsets
The Last Goodbye
Trust - The Prince
Nothing’s Changed - The Ghosts
Thanks For Setting Me Free - The Rose
Falling Stars
Just a Little Longer - The Fox
After the Pain - The Snake
When He Sings - The Pilots
From Turkey, With Love
Light Up Your Dreams

The Review... "Back to the Stars Again"

This Album has eleven tracks. I'll be reviewing the two I like the most on this album followed by a conclusion of the album as a whole. So, let's get started.

The first song that I'll be reviewing is the fifth track on the album called, "Thanks for setting me free - The Rose. this song starts out Chet plucking a stringed instrument along with a rhythm guitar as he sings.."I Guess I Have To Sing, I'm Sorry For All The Love That you Gave Me, I Always Knew From The Start We're Never Meant To Be". As you can tell from the lyrics this is a  break up song. But not one of those angry break up songs. The way Chet Lam sings this track is a loving way, from a point of understanding. There is a bit of sadness in it, but there is also a anticipation of a new start to find what he is looking for which Chet does not even know what that is. This is a very pleasant song for a breakup song. It's has a beautiful message to this track that it does not have to be a knock down fight with breakups, it's all about letting go.

The next song that I am reviewing is the eleventh track on this album called, "Light Up Your Dreams". This song starts out so lovely with a guitar and bass playing in unison like they are dancing together in a blissful melody that introduces Chet Lam singing, "Stars are twinkling In Your Eyes That Are Going In My Mind." introducing a upright bass playing so smoothly in this track. this is a kind of track that the story of the track is if you are lonely just look up at the stars and think of happy things in your life or even all the fairy-tale things for you and me. Because Chet tells us in this track, things are not what they seem to be. I love this track the feel to it the rhythm of it. The way Chet uses his instrument's to set the mood of this track. This is a track for a dreamer. What a lovely track.

In Conclusion, This album is so unique. With all the different instruments Chet Lam uses gives his tracks a certain sound that makes you feel like no matter what though the ups and downs things will be alright. With his acoustic tracks and his endearing lyrics this is an album you can easily listen to time and time again.

SchizoFranic has a new single....'Mists of Time'

I have a really good friend, Coen Rhys. He is a outstanding singer/songwriter and a good hearted person. This review was written by my good friend Coen, so lets see what he has to say about 'Mists of Time'.

Coens Review....

Mists of Time

If you know Schizofranic, this artist needs no introduction… if you have found this review by accident and you love general inner-souls feels: ignore this review and just listen here: Spotify Link: https://open.spotify.com/album/0IziSRvB0cm3HE0zYwyC8M?si=YkeCes3YQj2K-kYHz-HbMQ

Where do I start on this emotive and thought provoking track? Well the start surely?

An initial feeling of loneliness smothered with an almost instant instance of  togetherness, with diverse melodies blending together… this is what the world needs! Please!

Rhythms suggest variation or difference. Harmonies create the sense of a common goal. Time flows slowly in each moment but by the end you don’t realize time has passed… simply press play again and drive into a puddle of thinker listener music yet again from the awesome Schizofranic.

She is always writing, open for collaborations and has many more bangers up her sleeve!

Learn, love, leap of faith, and listen!

The Review of..... 'You & I'

Oh my goodness...Wow from the start of this track... there are millenium style guitars that just sound absolutely amazing. They introduce Caitlin setting the stage for the story.  Caitlin tells the story with her 'Amazing Voice' about what we all possibly go though meeting someone and you click with them but your unsure. But you know there is a spark there and you want confirmation from the one you are into to become a couple, kinda like love at first site. This Track has a EDM feel to it mixed with pop, very brilliant sound. This track will definitely have you dancing either in you seat or just dancing period. Caitlin McCarthy and her band are just out of this world amazing. With their EDM sound mixed with their pop feel  is simple brilliant is all I can say.

In conclusion, I personally love this band. I love their sound and the topics they sing about. Love, Falling in love and all the emotions that you go through in the process of finding love.
I recommend you readers listen to Caitlin and her band. You will thoroughly enjoy their work and you will get wrapped up in the story that Caitlin McCarthy and her band and are telling you. And maybe you can relate to it, I know I did.

Saturn Saturn Saturn Has An New Release... "The Void EP!!"

Getting to Know Saturn Saturn Saturn also know as Ben Capper...

Following on from the global indie radio airplay and streaming success of recent singles such as 'The State We’re In' and 'Maybe Someday', 2022 saw Ben take to the studio to work on a new collection of songs, which has become The Void EP and will be released on Bandcamp exclusively on 11th November, with a wider streaming release a week later on 18th November.

The release of The Void is preceded by a lead single 'Don’t Ever Change', a love song to a home town and also features four more songs written and recorded from Autumn 2021 onwards. The Void EP explores our troubled and divided culture taking influences from the likes of indie and punk rock legends Teenage Fanclub, My Bloody Valentine, Built to Spill, Spoon, The Besnard Lakes, Mogwai, Sugar / Bob Mould, Pavement and Fugazi.

From social media shock jocks, to populist governments; our time is blighted by people seemingly going to extraordinary lengths to make people’s lives harder and worse. The Void calls out those people whose divisive rhetoric seems to them like a brave new way of communicating, but is in fact just the same old fascistic nonsense we thought we’d rejected as a society, a generation ago: “There’s a void at the heart of your thinking. Nothing new: your poisonous dream.” (The Void)

At times melancholic, the EP pleads with people to get back to understanding that, whatever our differences, “there’s such a thing as intrinsic human worth” (Getting By); and laments how people we have once cherished have been sucked into and radicalized by online ideological rabbit holes: “It makes me sad to see what’s happened to you, on your search for something true” (A Place to Belong).

As is Saturn Saturn Saturn’s way, there is a glimmer of hope amid the chaos, based on an inherent hope in humanity to overcome its divisions and the collective traumas of our age: “In my heart I know, when you feel so low, you’ve got to breath, so you know.” (Breathe)

The Void EP Track List:

1. The Void
2. Don't Ever Change
3. Getting By
4. A place To Belong
5. Breathe

The Review... Saturn Saturn Saturn's EP The Void

I'll be reviewing two tracks that I like the most off this EP, then follow up with a conclusion. So, lets get started.
The first  track that I'll be reviewing is, "The Void".  The Void starts out with warmly picked electric guitar that leads to the rhythm guitar playing bright chords introducing Ben Capper singing, "Where It Starts, The Freedom of Thinking..." is a pleasant voice.  What stood out in this track for me is Ben keeps singing about how things never change. He is so right about that. Take some time out and look around you environment and think to yourself is it the place that changes or is it you, or do we really ever change at all? Really, Really good track. This is a track that makes you think. Plus, Saturn Saturn Saturn sound is incredible.

The second track I'm reviewing is, "A Place To Belong". This track also starts out with warmly picked electric guitar accompanied by drums and bass that sets the mood of this track. The sound is incredible, like notes floating in the air. Ben Capper begins to sing, "Find your way, I bet its somewhere safe.." later he sings, " You'll Find Us Waiting, With Open Arms, You'll find a place to belong..." Now, I don't know about you but, seems to me that's what every one at least once or twice in their lives is looking for..."A Place To Belong". This has to be my favorite song on Saturn Saturn Saturn's EP The Void. I absolutely love the message of this song. Nick Duane, New Album…. “Broken Promises”

Getting to know Nick Duane...

Sitting somewhere between the edge of rock and the catchy appeal of indie and singer-songwriter music, Nick Duane is an artist who stands out for having put together a signature sound that is innovative and creative. In fact, it does not feel like a stretch to say that Nick’s music could be considered proof that great songs can be so much more than just flashy studio productions that only aim at capturing the short attention span of a narrow audience. Nick’s blend of indie rock has a sound that combines “old school” vibes with unique new ideas, at times classic and timeless, at times innovative and futuristic.

Hailing from the landscapes of Providence, RI and the surrounding New England scene Nick Duane has been making music for decades. He has played both Bass and Guitar with several New England regional acts and writes and records his own songs that you can find at all the usual locations including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and Pandora and YouTube.

Nick has currently produced a slew of singles and released 4 Albums
('Confessions', 'When We Said Goodbye', 'Before The Storm', 'Broken Promises') and 1 EP ('Remake Remix').

One of the founding members of the Backslap Blues Band..(the first band to appear at the now legendary Providence, Rhode Island nightclub,
'Lupos Heartbreak Hotel')
Former member of the rock band and WBRU battle of the bands winner 'DC Tenz'

The Review... "Broken Promises"

This Album has thirteen tracks, I’ll be reviewing two out of the thirteen that I liked best.

The first track that I really like just so happens to be the first track on the album. The tracks name is “Anything” this track starts out with some amazing drumming along with bright guitars that introduces the vocalist Nick Duane singing, “Wondering what this union was...it all fits together much to conveniently...” with a voice that reminds me of David Bowie. At the verse the guitars play brightly as Nick sings,”Heart racing as we get through the night…. Hell bent on reaching… Some other side of this, with you my love” this is a track about a love that can defeat anything that this world throws at them. Might of fact Nick even states that in the chorus of the track. Wow, that break has a sort of synth wave feel to it, nice touch! It is also a nice touch with the vocal doubling. I like the way this song sounds, with bright guitars and a punchy drum beat that put together gives you the feel of a David Bowie track.

The Second track I reviewed is the twelfth track..”Tears Falling” This track starts out so smooth with rhythm guitar play along side the drums and bass as the lead guitarist plays this amazing rift again setting the stage for the vocalist Nick Duane to tell the story. Nick  started out saying, “The day winds down… The sky had a strawberry moon..” This track is a breakup track a track where you long for a person that you've been with and in a sudden they are gone leaving you missing them. The break is absolutely beautiful with the change up the guitars playing in harmonics. The drum and bass has you tapping you toes. This track is just phenomenal. It has to be my favorite track on this album.

In conclusion, Broken Promises by Nick Duane is a really outstanding album. Tracks of Love to Tracks of heartache.  With his David Bowie feel to his tracks really makes this album fantastic. This is an album for all walks of life.

SWELTR has a debut single ...What's It Gonna Be?

 A Bit About SWELTR...

SWELTR are a two piece band from the North Dublin region, officially announced to the world on Thursday the 27th of October and released the debut single on Halloween October 31st.
Taking inspiration from what they experienced as children, teens, and now somewhat adults, SWELTR are not afraid to embrace who they truly are.
Shaped by the sites and sounds around them, SWELTR are inspired by even the most outlandish thoughts and ideas, anything is food for thought to these guys.

Former members of the Dublin Post-Punk scene, Noel and Tony are back with a new and fresh understanding and take on the Punk sound, while maintaining the same gut wrenching energy and thump they carried in their previous project. The lads have worked extremely hard and are now ready to begin their journey starting with a ferocious debut single - “What's It Gonna Be?” produced by the band themselves and mixed and mastered by Tony Keyes.

Where to find SWELTR:
https://linktr.ee/sweltrband

The Review... "What's it Gonna Be?"

What's it Gonna be starts out with amazing roaring guitars introducing the vocalist. Tony sings "Clear as the day gets, clear as the mind could be." As the track go to the verse Tony signs as if he is facing adversity and how he feels about it, frustrated. In a strong belting voice gives the listener the feeling of what Tony is going through. Which I can relate to it I've been there once or twice in my life. the drums in this track is outstanding, well played! SWELTR does amazing vocals with guitars pausing then vocals come in sound outrageously good at the chorus. At the chorus Tony sings. "What's it gonna be...?" in a roaring voice. Singing like he just had enough of whatever the situation is, possibly a woman. Tony sounds as if he is taking a stand and wants to know, "What's it gonna be..?

in conclusion, This is a really outstanding punk duo. I really enjoyed this track because it is in your face truth. SWELTR'S  track is a track we all can relate to, possibly some might be going though what this track message is about. I really loved their roaring guitar's  all through the track. The drums and bass was phenomenal they get your head bobbin. In my opinion this is a really good punk band. If you want to jam this is the band that will take you there.

The Review...."Come Down"

Come Down has a funk mixed with rock feel to it. I like the way they started out the track. You hear drums, guitar's and drums playing is a sort of funk feel to the beginning of the track. The vocals come in singing, "She says its big and empty, as she was biting off her nails.." At the break the feel of the track shifts to a rock feel which they transitioned very well. I love how the switched the guitars  from left to right, brilliant! In my opinion the Darren Holland Project is absolutely out standing band. with bright guitars, and excellent bass and drums. They really get you dancing in your seat and also their lyrics make you think.

In conclusion, I personally love this band. I love the diversity of  their tracks. I also love the fact that they sing about real events in everyday life. Not only that they sing about real event, the band is just phenomenal. This is a band that you can listen to over and over again.

Marseille has a rocking single comming... "Freedom"

Getting to know about the Marseille single:

Now entering a new phase of Marseille with the expansion to a 5 piece, Will, Joe, Lennon, Tom and Felix are coming at you with a raw, energetic, floor filler in the brand new single 'FREEDOM'

The single will drop on the 4th of November across all major streaming platforms

The new single 'FREEDOM' is the trademark Marseille we all know and love at it's very finest. It’s a fast tempo, high energy, in your face guitar driven anthem with euphoric guitar solos. You are initially greeted with the brilliant drum intro, a thumping bassline and the roaring feedback of guitars and this sets the tone for the rest of the rock n roll anthem.

Marseille lead singer and songwriter Will Brown had this to say about the song:

"Freedom is a song written about our hometown Derby. The lyric portrays how there's not a lot going for it anymore. Once a city booming with life in the streets is now a dull, gloomy place which really needs something to liven it up again.I  thoroughly believe our music could bring some life back to this city"

 Background:

Marseille are a young rock n roll band formed in late 2021 in Derby, England. The band consists of Will Brown, Joe Labram, Lennon Hall, Tom Spray and most recently Felix Moxey. Signed to Birmingham based label ADR Records, the 90's Madchester scene and the 60's Merseybeat is where Marseille draw most their influences from.

In 2022 Marseille, have already had some success with the singles "Forget It All" which was played on Soccer Am and the 9minute monster "The Jungle". Over the summer, the band have also performed at the Y-Not and Isle Of Wight Festivals.

With an average age of 18, Marseille are sure to go far...

The Review:

Wow, is the word to express this band! The trace "Freedom" starts out with drums, guitar's, bass swirling in your ears from left to right truly amazing start of a track. the band comes together leading into the vocalist "Will Brown" singing, " I've seen this city scenic town, everybody's driving trying to find  their  away out.."  I know I can relate to those lyrics because I've lived in towns like the one Will Brown is singing about. Marseille has a fantastic sound. with the guitar roaring the bass pumping up the drums is absolutely amazing, I just can't say that enough. I really enjoyed Marseille track "Freedom." This is a track you can absolutely jam to over and over again. It definitely had my head bobbin to the beat.

In conclusion, This is a outstanding band. With there unique sound and the vocalist Will Brown has a strong mind blowing voice. an amazing bass player and the drum just make you wanna get your head bobbin. and finally Wow, those guitars are truly amazing. This is an all around great band so look out for these guys, pre-save their new single "Freedom" you will be Wowed too.

“Well, the first half [of my twenties] I spent in active drug and alcohol addiction, and the second half I spent learning how to live life without drugs and alcohol."

Zach Churchill just released a new album entitled Greater Than. We’ve reviewed the marvelous lead single of the album “Surrender” a while back. You can read the review of the song here

Zach agreed to talk to us a bit about his music, new album, his struggles and travels as well as his background.

1. When did you start singing and when did you become interested in music?

I started singing at a very early age ... 3 or 4 years old. My first introduction to music was when my grandparents would sing French duets to me as a young child. My grandmother is from Lyon, France, and they both had such beautiful voices, deep bass and soprano.

2. How would you describe you music?

The album Greater Than has a 90s alternative rock vibe. My music is singer-songwriter based, as I write everything first on an acoustic guitar or piano, then in the studio we found this sound naturally.

3. Who are your favorite artists and why?

Jeff Buckley because he naturally conveyed such raw, deep emotion through his music.

David Bowie because his music is so rich, deep, and eclectic that it speaks to me over and over again in new ways over the years.

4. Your Spotify bio says that your album “Heartbreak & Hope” serves a musical milestone commemorating a ten-year journey through your twenties – a decade that you barely survived. Can you tell us a bit more about that period in your life?

Well, the first half I spent in active drug and alcohol addiction, and the second half I spent learning how to live life without drugs and alcohol. It's been a painful road, but I'm so grateful for every lesson.

5. Your song “Surrender” is a fantastic pop/rock number that the MBTM blog reviewed a few weeks ago. What inspired the song?

As a recovering addict, I often talk to people who are trying to get clean but are powerless to do so. I often wonder about the mystery of “hitting bottom”, and why some people seem unable to find that bottom.

I personally take no credit for my willingness to get sober as it came from the gift of desperation and not wanting to die. Prior to my bottom, I had no intention of ever stopping. So “Surrender” is exploring the idea of powerlessness, and what it takes to actually be done and ready to try something new.

6. I found a webpage, according to which you’ve performed in France and travelled in Spain. What was that like?

I have family all over France so I was able to take a month-long trip out there in my early twenties. I got to perform in Paris at a really cool venue called L'Internacional – such lovely people.

I visited Spain last year and walked the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage through the north of Spain. It was a transformative experience, and I met some lifelong friends over there.

7. When asked about the “Heartbreak & Hope” album, you’ve said that “It’s all real and it’s my story”. Is it fair to say that writing songs is your way of keeping a diary?

Writing songs is definitely a way I process experiences and emotions. I keep a daily journal as well, but my songwriting is a method of self-expression and how I get my insides outside.

8. Do you have a new album in the works?

My sophomore album, Greater Than, dropped this month on 10/28/22, and I begin sessions for a follow-up album in January.

9. If you could go back in time and give advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Relax. Slow down. Stop running. Face yourself.

Isaac Neilson’s new 1990s-flavored “Tear This Down” is an energetic pop/rock song with a kick-ass melody, a melody that’s actually also rather intriguing. By that I mean that the note-progression’s well though out. It’s a bit different from your usual run-of-the-mill pop composition. Listening to it is like going on a guided tour of a museum that ends up giving you much more than you anticipated … or paid for.

But it’s not just the melody or the powerful lead vocals that makes this a great track. The arrangement of “Tear This Down” is equally good, a wonderful combination of strong and fragile, seasoned with warm and inviting production values. Check out the playful and whimsical bass, and while you are at it, the drum accents and fills aren’t half bad either. In fact, they are pretty damn good. Oh, and the tambourine adds a nice touch.

You know, I can imagine standing on a subway platform, waiting for the next train, listening to “Tear This Down”. The subway would help me make new memories. It would take me to the wherever I might be going, while the song would guide me down memory lane. I know I’ve been in those “we got to leave here” situations a plethora of times during my life – I suppose quite a few of us have. But that’s the thing about songs like “Tear This Down”, they make us realize that a lot of the quandaries we find ourselves in are rather universal, regardless of how personal they might seem to us.

Give this song a spin, you won’t regret it.

Pilot Light has a single coming... "Jumpscare"

With the name Pilot Light born from a university project, Portsmouth based George Watson crafts tightly woven, charismatic alt-pop that stares firmly through the lens of optimism.

With his first two singles garnering airplay from BBC Introducing, playlisting from Amazing Radio and a host of support from local outlets, Pilot Light returns with ‘Jumpscare’. The release date of Jumpscare with be November 4th.  So everybody look out for this one.

The Review... "Jumpscare"

Jumpscare is Pilot Light's third release. Jumpscare starts out the soft synth sound that swirls around in your ears. The synths introduce the vocalist Pilot Light with a voice that is inviting, that starts the scene to the track. immediately I was hooked wanting to hear more of the journey that Pilot Light is telling the listeners. The track starts with Pilot Light singing "Watching the Rain Fall.." That makes you think what Pilot Light was thinking as the rain falls, a girl perhaps. This Track has a upbeat alternative pop sound with a punchy beat that compliments the voice of Pilot Light. At the break there is an amazing sound of synths fading in, really nice sound. Pilot Light changes the mood of the track at the end, well done! With soft arps playing and Pilot Light humming in the background.

In conclusion, This track "Jumpscare" is a up beat inviting song that takes the listener on a journey of a relationship between two people possibly a bitter sweet one. This track had my toes tapping to the beat as the track plays on. Pilot Lights voice is very nice, pleasing to the ears. This track is a kinda track that you could listen to more that once. As I listened to "Jumpscare"  I was anticipating what comes next in Pilot Lights story. In my opinion I think this track was well written and pleasing to the ears. With the soft synths playing as Pilot Light sings with a soft warm voice. This is a track that most listeners will enjoy. Nice work Pilot Light, I really enjoy this track.

The Review... Remember Tonight!!

Remember Tonight starts of with an EDM Feel to the track with Caitlin outstanding voice setting the mood of the track. Right away I was bouncing my head. The percussion is almost tropical in nature, it really gets you toes tapping. At the break she got ya dancing in you seat! a wall of sound just bursts along with that amazing voice that Caitlin has. This is a type of track that speaks to the listener about letting loose and just go for it, don't waste one moment live life to the fullest. This Track has truly amazing synths not overpowering, but you definitely hear there presence. The bass was brilliantly played along side the Percussion. I must say I really like this track it had me moving in my seat as I write this review. Outstanding work Caitlin McCarthy with that powerful voice of yours! And Brilliant performance to the band, my hat is off!

“I Couldn’t Trust” is a fantastic pop/rock number with backwards guitars, electronic piano, tubular bells, and many other very cool production touches that make you feel like you’ve just wandered into a time machine and travelled to a nightclub in the seventies. Don’t get me wrong, the song’s contemporary but the instrumentation and the feel is very retro and I mean that as a compliment. There’s mysticism galore and yet enough edge to keep us interested. As Coleman delivers his Tom Petty-flavored, lethargic but powerful lead vocal, instruments fly in and out of the mix, which makes “I Couldn’t Trust” a great listening experience. It’s one of those rare songs that you don’t want to end. You want more of it. Luckily, in the age of streaming platforms, it’s easy enough to press play again.

Lyrically the song rests on the very familiar turf of relationship/inner struggles. And why not? This topic will always work. This fact has been clear to me ever since I saw the movie Crossroads and heard the character of Willie Brown stating that, “blues ain’t nothing but a good man feeling bad.” It’s basically this same foundation that Coleman is building his track:

It was you I couldn’t trust
It was you I couldn’t love

Sadly, this is a message that we can all relate to. You see, trust is a complicated issue. It’s something that is hard to build (it can take years) but easy to lose (one small thoughtless unexplainable action and you’re done). The ultimate question is whether you can love someone you can’t trust. I tend to agree with Coleman. You really can’t. You’ll go crazy and nothing in the world is worth that. Of course, if it’s a case of not being able to trust yourself, as the brilliant music video of “I Couldn’t Trust” implies, well … then you just might be screwed. A relationship you can leave but as far as I know, we’re sort of stuck with ourselves.

Just like the song, the music video too is wonderful, definitely something you don’t have to box your way through.
