“Believe” by Groovy Shirt Club

In a music landscape often dominated by overproduced bombast and relentless tempos, "Believe" by Groovy Shirt Club arrives like a breath of fresh air. It’s a track that embraces relaxed indie-pop sensibilities, prioritising warmth and subtle musical textures over flashy hooks. The result is a gorgeous song that feels almost timeless, echoing the spirit of early-seventies pop-rock—and I mean that entirely as praise.

The performance feels refreshingly natural, from the laid-back drums to the magnificent vocals. The production works beautifully as well: the Hammond organ, the melodic bass line, and the guitars that dance gracefully through the mix—mostly supporting, but occasionally stepping into the spotlight. Everything is clearly audible, which, these days, is surprisingly rare.

The song boasts a fantastic chorus, but what makes “Believe” particularly appealing is its sense of mood. Rather than chasing dramatic peaks, the track cultivates a steady emotional warmth that lingers long after the final note fades.

With “Believe,” Groovy Shirt Club demonstrates that the most compelling music isn’t always the loudest. Sometimes subtlety can be just as powerful as spectacle—perhaps even more so.
